Monograms on Invites?

Monograms on Invites?

Is it in poor etiquette to use a monogram on an invite with bride's first initial, then FH's last name initial, then groom's initial since you have not assumed his last name yet?

Strictly speaking, a monogram should not be used on anything until after you are married. But as with many things, these sorts of rules are rather old school thinking and many people disregard.

So I assume the etiquette would give a big thumbs down to using a monogram you have no intention of using on an invite. But if you like it, you should go for it.

However, be prepared for people to assume you are taking his name. If that will bother you, I would suggest not using the monogram.

PS: You can do a more modern version of a monogram by using just your first initials or all four of your initials.

I had our Monogram on our invites and they came out wonderful, then we had the monogram on our menus. We both have the same letter for our first name and I did change my last name.

I did a monogram and I had the initials AC for Ann/Clay. Unfortunately, DH's last name starts with a C also, so it looked like I was using my new initials already! But I didn't care; if anybody had asked, I would've explained it.
