My 1st Year Anniversary

My 1st Year Anniversary

Today marks our 1st year of marriage- 6/21/08!!
Unfortunately what I had planned out didn't turn out to be what I expected. I really want to have a romantic lunch and maybe take a scroll in the park or something...
Instead, I find DH still sleeping in bed til late afternoon. When I attempted to wake him up and tell him to get ready, he angrily woke up and insisted I should get ready myself. Needless to say, our anniversary this year will not be a happy or memorable one. I'm afraid the whole day is over! DH planned out his day to do errands leaving us no time to celebrate our special day. I wouldn't have mind if it was our second or third anniversary but it's our first. These things are never important to guys. Why do us (as a wife) always bother putting the special touches or go through extensive planning when guys (husband) don't even care? Sorry ladies to rant on about my problems, it's just upsetting.

I'm so sorry your anniversary didn't turn out how you expected it to. Did you guys talk and plan something special beforehand or did you kind of leave it up to chance? Like you said, guys are not so good with this sort of stuff sometimes...I would talk to him when he is in a better mood and let him know that you are disappointed and share your vision of what you wanted and why your anniversary is special to you (I know, duh!) Sometimes you have to tell them right out what you expect lol...not to be demanding, just assertive!
GL!!! Happy anniversary!!!!!!

Re: My 1st Year Anniversary

I'm really sorry to hear that's how your day turned out, I hope after your post the rest of your evening got better.

I think in this situation you have to remember that your DH is after all a man, and there's a reason why they have a stereotypical reaction to anniversaries, birthdays, etc.. Rather than get really pissed and angry and ruin the rest of your week (because I guarantee starting a fight won't make him see your point of view), I would sit down with him and just explain how important it was for you to be able to spend the day with him. He might have been so oblivious he didn't even realize it was so important (guys have to be told things and not left hints and allowed to figure it out--they will NEVER get it unless you tell them point blank). Then see if you can plan something for next weekend (or the next time you're both free) to make up the time.

HTH!

Thanks ladies so much!! I feel so much better. We're def planning to make up our time and do it Wednesday. I guess it was a bit too hectic for us since we both had stuff planned out esp with errands that day.
