He is getting married this November. He is having a small wedding here, w/ immediate family b/c he is going to Korea w/ the Army for a year. When he gets back he will have a larger wedding. When should I give him his gift? I was thinking, when they have the official wedding next year. Or do I give for both?

Me personally, I might do both. Dont go overboard but I think u have to acknowledge November but yet if there is a wedding next yr as well i think u might after acknowledge that as well. Especially since its immediate family. Maybe do 100 now and 100 next yr or 150/150? Do whats best for u both but thats what I would probably do. Thats a tough one.

It's been my experience that he 'second, larger' wedding never occurs.
This happened to 2 of our friends. While the marriages are still together, the couple never had the 2nd wedding.

That's a good point. I was going to say do both, but maybe give a bigger gift now & if they have a 2nd wedding, get them a smaller gift. Maybe $ now & a registry -type item later, if they do have a 2nd wedding.
