My boss...

... just hung up the phone w/ his wife and started singing, 'I hate wives!' So then he goes, 'Hey Maris? Is Jimmy sick of you, yet?' I said, 'Um, if he is I sure don't know it!' He was like, 'Oh, you're not even married a year yet, I'm sure he'll get there soon enough.' Um, thanks? Jerk!!!

Oh, and I know this wasn't a personal attack on me, my boss just thinks all men hate being married since he does (or he CLAIMS he does. They just celebrated their 14th anniversary so I really don't think he is THAT miserable!)

ugh, i hate those kinds of comments. DH gets 'em a lot from the guys at his work. Like when we were engaged, they just kept pestering him about there still being time to get out of it. And now that we're happily married, they bug him about how the sex is gonna die any day now. Just because YOU GUYS are miserable in your marriage, it doesn't mean that WE will be. So i hate that.

And even though your boss didn't mean it as a personal attack (he was probably even trying to be funny) it's just rude and that would irritate me.

I've had that happen to me also before we got married. There was this one older woman at an old job who could see how in love I was with my fiance and was just kind of like 'Young Love. Enjoy him now cause it won't last.' I know that her husband committed murder and is now rotting in prison so I see where her bitterness is, but come on. Made me kind of upset - don't try to predict that I am as doomed as you. I knew what kind of man I was marrying (apparently she didn't).

its funny my boss does the same thing...He even commented once on how DH sent me flowers on V-day, saying how that would end next year

Needless to say he is always commenting on how he hates marriage

I would've told him, 'no Jimmy actually loves being around me' lol or something to give a little sting back at him.

I hate when ppl say crap like that.

Last week when Jimmy brought me those tulips here for no reason, my boss was all, 'Uh oh, that means he did something wrong and wants your forgiveness! What did he do?!' I was like, maybe YOU do that but not all husbands do! Sheesh!

I totally agree with this though. So many older married couples do this. Especially my MIL.
She does the 'oh that wont last' thing with a lot of stuff.

I am like sorry you hate your husband, but I actually married my guy b/c I LOVE him. Strange concept right???
