My sis hung it to dry for me in her closet, and it started to moss up and brown goo started dripping out of it. All the roses turned dark brown and when she picked it up it fell apart.
To boot, no one in my family thought to take a centerpiece home to dry the flowers for me, so all I have is literally 3 roses from the top of my wedding cake.

That's what I thought too, but her bouquet dried beautifully right next to it.

Did you cut the end of your bouquet off before drying? My florist told me to saw off the end since it was very moist to keep it looking fresh all day. That way the moisture would evaporate and the bouquet should dry out.

Re: My bouquet preservation failed miserably...
some just turn out like that
I was bummed about my centerpieces too - a few relatives took some home, but no one gave me one! I was ****ed, because they were grapevine wreaths that I could use again and again You can't think of everything though!

I am sorry to hear that but not all flowers will dry well even some of the same flowers. It depends on when they are dried and if they were fully opened at the time. What about doing a mock bouquet of your actual one and try drying that?

Re: My bouquet preservation failed miserably...
I'm sorry Misty. So sorry to hear that I knew mine would dry horribly, so I didn't even attempt. Every so often I get a pang of guilt about not keeping them, but I didnt want to see them die and they were lillies which are so delicate, so they woulnt preserve. So don't worry, you're not the only one w/o her bouquet. I'm in the same boat.
I'm sorry My bouquet didn't dry well, either....well, it did, but I didn't like the brown roses (dried ivory ones). My solution was to re-create my bouquet using silk flowers. It came out great, actually. If you're not into doing it yourself, you might ask your wedding florist to do this for you - then you don't have to worry about brown goo or anything, and you'll have it forever. I had my florist re-create the centerpieces in silk for me. Good luck - and don't worry - all is not lost!

I am so sorry.. I hung it upside down before I left for my honeymoon. When I got back..it was all full of moss and yucky stuff too.

I am really loving the silk idea...I may even try to do it myself! I wonder if I can pull it off with the dried flowers in Michaels....
