My car Update!
Ugh, thank goodness today was a much better day than yesterday.
I took my car in this morning for a 2nd opinion with a mechanic that my friend's parents recommended. I explained the whole situation to him and he said he'd definately get it back to me before Thursday night when I need to drive back to GA.
He called me at 1pm to tell me that he checked it thouroughly and it wasnt the engine at all!
It was the oil pressure sensor (like I had originally thought) -- which was an $180 fix and it was finished by 3pm! He told me that there's NOTHING wrong with my car at all and it should hold up just fine for another few years (its a 97 with alot of mileage, so we didnt expect it to last very much longer anyway).
I'm so relieved! I still worry a tiny tiny bit about the drive back only because now I have the whole engine breaking down thing in the back of my mind...but I trust this guys judgement and he says I have nothing to worry about...so I'm going to take his advice and just drive back.
And to top off my 'good news day', I recieved a call from our mortgage company today telling me that I'm all set to close on the house on Friday!
Now with this car situation out of the way, I can finally start to get excited about closing on our first house!
