I knew it was going to happen - and I still registered, b/c I figured I would want a new set when this one was on its last leg...but I am undecided on what to do...we love these plates...but DH has broken a few...
would you stock up? would you replace what DH broke would you just let it go?

Re: my casual china is discontinued...
Where did you get it from? Was it Crate and Barrel? If so, you might be able to get great deals on it in the outlet..I'd stock up if you really love it!
its actually a japanese company lindst and stymeist (doesn't sound too Japanese does it??)
and fortunoffs and BBB both carried it...so I don't know if an outlet would have it...at first they carried it only in a few stores...then only online...now only a few pieces are available...

You can also check Replacements, Ltd. They are located in North Carolina but you can check them out online and they carry a lot of patterns.
I was even able to get my grandmother's china replacements through them.
My every day dishes have been discontinued too. I still have a few pieces I want.

I would stock-up on the basics and buy a few of the 'extra' pieces at the sale price that is usually offered during this time.

Mine is discontinued too. If its regular prices, I would stock up. Too late for me. The prices they are charging for the pieces are ridiculous.

I'd also stock up now while it's still easy to find the pieces

Re: my casual china is discontinued...
I would stock up now and then in a few years, if more pieces break or if you get tired of it ... then I'd get a new set.
thanks everyone...I know DH isn't going to like this idea of stocking up...but I kind of want to...so you girls have definitely helped my decision...
Stef...I'm going to check out that place...thanks

My casual stuff was discontinued before I even got married! I didn't stock up, and now I wish I had, so my advice for you is DO IT NOW!

Re: my casual china is discontinued...
my everyday china from Pfaltzgraph was discontinued right after wedding. Because I loved the pattern so much, I went out to the Outlets in Riverhead and completed my set

Yabbobay- I work at BBB. The name doesn't ring a bell. But If you want, send me the info on it, I can look it up and let you know if any stores still have it in stock.

I would definitely stock up while you can. My casual flatware was discontinued (Crate and Barrel) before I had a chance to stock up on the hostess set and other serving spoons/forks, etc.

I would stock up a bit as well - it's not like you need to get another 8 place settings but a few extra pieces of the most frequently used pieces will always come in handy.
