My Dad's Irish Soda Bread recipe

Ok here it is ladies...sorry it took so long to get and post for you all...

Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients:
3 cups flour
2/3 cups sugar
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsps baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups raisins
1 or 2 tablespoons of caraway seeds
1 egg
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
--or regular milk + 2 tsps vinegar
3 tablespoons butter

Put all dry ingredients together *including caraway seeds. Then cut in butter.

Mix egg and buttermilk, then add to dry mix.

Then add the raisins

Put in pre-heated 350 degree oven for about 1 hour.

**Use a loaf baking pan for this it is much easier than trying to mold your own dough into a loaf and putting it on the baking tray.

ENJOY!!!!! It is sooo good with some butter on it! YUMMY

Oh just use the vinegar if you are using milk instead of buttermilk.

Re: My Dad's Irish Soda Bread recipe

You are all very welcome!!!!!!!

I am so glad you all enjoyed it so much. I will have to let my dad and really my grandma know. It is my great grandmothers recipe from Ireland. And my grandmother stopped making it like 10 yrs ago so my dad took the recipe and makes it now. He made me a loaf over the weekend and I almost finished it already haha

Enjoy ladies!!!!!
