My DH is a big baby!

Let's say you need a lawyer's advice on a contract. And let's say DH's mother works for this lawyer. Let's say DH asks the lawyer to review it. Say the lawyer finds many flaws and DH agrees to have the lawyer work on rewriting the contract.

The lawyer will most likely charge at this point for his time. I have been HARASSING DH to just ask the lawyer how much he will charge us at this point. I am afraid he has already spent quite a deal of time on this.

DH is too embarrassed to ask. I would, but then I don't want to piss off MIL. But, really, is it a big deal to ask a professional how much they charge?!?

I was like to DH - they get this kind of question ALL THE TIME! He starts flipping out when I get mad about it. I am just afraid that it can run into the thousands at this point!

How can I convince him to just ask? Or should I just do it myself. I was going to write an email along the lines of:

I would def call. Just say do u bill by the hour or by job because I am curious what you think the total price will be. Just call and don't tell dh or mil.

Also is it a contract for a house? I am only curious to know if it was a sale by owner?

If you don't feel comfortable asking can you ask MIL to find out for you? If not I would say for you to write an email or call the attorney directly and just ask how much this will roughly run. Its probably a very common question he hears.

I would also ask. This project can turn out to be longer then expected and you don't want to get hit with a massive bill at the end. When it comes to spending money if he is too embarassed to ask, do it yourself. After all, you will both be responsible for the bill.
