My Fingers are crossed

My Fingers are crossed

So I got a job video editing. Now this was my original career goal, though I wanted to do something more high end, like working in the city and actually cutting for a tv show or film, but at least its something since subbing doesn't seem to be working out. So I am finishing up my first edit for them today and bringing it to them tomorrow. If they like it then hopefully I will start doing this regularly. But I do have to see what they would offer me pay wise.

So this edit is kind of my audition. Wish me luck.

It would allow me to work from home on my own hours, which means I could still try to sub, but if I don't sub I don't have to worry because I have a job.

I am using Final Cut Pro, I love it.
But I learned on Avid as well.

I used to work as an editor but then kind of got moved into a producer roll and then my show lost funding and I couldn't find a job in the field, go married and didn't want production hours anymore (for kids) and went back to school for teaching.

But I love editing!

Kid Fitness was great when we were not in production because it was local (East Islip) and 9-5. I loved being in production but I would work 16 hour days, easily. One day we did a thing at Shea and I worked from 4am until 7pm. I was beat. My cousin said he would help me to get a job with Fox, but it means commuting to the city and working odd hours. Which is fine now, but we want to start trying next year, and then it wouldn't work so well.

yeah, working in the city is something you have to do before you have kids. a co-worker of mine worked in the city for years and it just became too much with her 2 daughters b/c she couldn't spend any time with them. although the money is better! HAHA!
