My new baby!
My puppy arrived yesterday! I am so happy I had to share. She is beautiful and so cute. I hated leaving her alone this morning. She was crying when I left. I feel like I just became a mother overnight. It is pretty scary! I will try and figure out how to post a picture.

My new baby!
Misha- we have been dying to get a dog! Please tell me how you are planning to handle training issues while you are at work. How long are you gone? We are out of the house for almost 12 hrs a day and I feel bad leaving a dog alone that long. I'm not trying to make you feel bad, I'm hoping you'll convince me its not a big deal and after time the pup will amuse himself all day!

Dog Training
We have a dog and we had the same issues. We got her by accident. My husband found her on Christmas Eve 1999. So we weren't prepared. We crate trained her -- so she stayed in a crate all day until she was about 2years old. Dogs are burrowing animals so they like having a little place to themselves. This is a good puppy training tool so they don't tear your house apart. Also if you have a fenced in yard you can always let them stay out and have a doggie door to the garage or house in case of bad weather while they are outside. But they can get excercise. We took our dog to obedience school which is really for the owner more than the dog and it helps you train the dog to behave -- potty train --etc. We've been really lucky our dog is very good but she does love paper -- so i have make sure it's always out of the way -- like bills :-) But I know it's hard to leave them for long days while your at work -- I work 10 hour days and usually am gone about 12 as well.

My new baby!
I would never recommend getting a puppy if you have to be gone that long every day. It was so tough leaving her this morning but I stayed til about 10 and my husband is going to go home early around 2 so that she is not alone for more than 4 hours. We're fortunate in that my husband can work from home most of the time so he can be there at least in these early years. As for training, we have a crate and are following are breeder's instructions in training. It is not easy but hopefully it will be worth it in the long run. Maybe you have someone who could stop by and play with her a little and let her out during the day? I know a few people who do that.

Forgot to mention
that my husband used to also come home at lunch to take her out and play for a little bit. He was close enough to do this and then when we moved into our house I was close enough. We did this for several months.

Thank you!
Her name is Luna (we went through about 50 names--can't imagine what picking one for a child is like!) and she is a Coton de Tulear. She is just adorable and she is so smart. She slept thru the whole night without having to go outside. She hasn't even messed in the house yet!

Misha... Coton de Tulear
http://users.crocker.com/~luippold/ Never having heard of your type of dog before, I was so curious. So I found this website with a picture of them. I'M SURE Luna is much cuter! But now I get the idea. They look so loveable!

Coton de Tulear
Actually, my puppy is shown on this page: http://www.cotondogs.com/coco's_puppies.htm In the 3rd picture down, she is the one right in the middle. Those pictures were taken 3 weeks ago though so she is getting a little bigger. I will have to put some recent pictures up on our web site when I get home tonight.

Coton de Tulear - How adorable !!
Im not even a dog person and Im saying that. How big do they get? If they stay small I might have to change my mind about dogs.

Coton de Tulear -Fran
They get to be about 12-15 pounds, definitely pretty small. We actually got the baby of the litter so she will probably only be about 12 pounds. They don't shed at all (I can't stand shedding dogs!) and they have a ton of hair. I'm not a dog person either, have always been a cat lover, but when my mother got a Coton, I fell in love with them. I can email you a picture if you want to see her now (she is a little older--12 weeks) or if you want more info on them. My email address is [email protected]Welcome New Vendors
