My New Pet Peeve

OK so if you were going to run a marathon or do a walk and you said to me, Michelle can you donate? And I said, I really am not in the position and that is that... then so be it. I don't mind you asked and if I was able to I would give to you.But if you make a Facebook group that you insist I join, send all your friends e-mails every week for 9 weeks leading up to a walk each week asking to donate money and calling and leaving me voice messages and getting upset when I say, sorry I can't, I am not in a position to donate to anything this year, but you keep bugging me anyhow....

ITS ANNOYING!!!!

My friend did this to me last year and she is starting up again. What part of I haven't been called to sub one day yet and we are redoing a house does she not understand? I am glad they have money to go traveling and run marathons and all... but I don't.

Sorry I needed to vent and I know you girls are the best to vent to.

Re: My New Pet Peeve

I just had this conversation yesterday.

I went to high school with a girl that got breast cancer when we were 24. She fought for 5 years and passed away this past february.

While she was sick and even after I donated a bunch of times to her foundation/treatment. After she passed I donated a lump sum to the Susan Komen foundation in her name.

Now that the big walk is coming up, my company has a team walking. And they've sent an email 10 times asking for money. Someone had the balls to say to me 'o you haven't donated to the walk at all.'

Last time I checked, you donate when you want to! You don't have to defend yourself when you can't!

Im totally w/ you on this Michelle. My ex-Bf's niece was diagnosed w/ colitis at the age of 2 1/2 yrs old. I did one walk to raise $$ for Crohns/Colitis Foundation and have always tried to donate a few dollars every year if I can even though ex=BF & I have been broen up 8 years now - I babysat his niece daily for 5 years & I always felt bad watching someone so young go through something so difficult. But the past 2 years I havent been able to give anything - & this year esp b/c of $$ for the wedding & now that Im also unemployed & not being called for subbing - I just cant give what I dont have. It kills me that I am getting letters & emails asking me why I cant match my donation from previous years...I'm like...'W T H?'

Sometimes I hate donating - b/c the year you cant donate for whatever reason - they hound you & make u feel like crap b/c you dont...donating should be when u can, if u can, & however much u can or want to.
