My work saga continues LONG

My work saga continues LONG

As if my job situation was not already destined for a comedy show... Someone sent my boss a nasty email about me but ended up sending it directly to me on accident.

I asked to take tomorrow off to go to my friend's wedding two weeks ago. My boss scheduled a meeting that I have to be at so I worked it out with her that I would come in for the morning. And I asked the guy that tracks my time to take it as comp time I haven't taken.

This is what he wrote to my boss about me.
FYI- Although it probably isn't worth fussing over 4 hours, at some point you may want to address the comp time issue. No one here has ever implied
that you should receive comp. time for every hour you put in after-hours, although in this case there may be some confusion, as she was awarded her 3
comp days before she started working here (to accommodate her honeymoon.) (Perhaps this relates to her question the other day, 'Why do we get charged 8 hours for a vacation day when I only work 7 hours?') At any rate, the ball is in your court, and I'll not mark off any vacation time for Irene tomorrow unless you tell me differently.

Dont' you think he is trying to get me in trouble? He ended up sending this to me by accident. I ended up letting him have it and he came in to deny their was any malice intended.

I can't stand backstabbers like that. Sadly most offices have one or two. That is why I hate my job now.

That is BS- if you put in extra time they should be lenient about tomorrow's few hours.. How horrible. You should go straight to your boss with that print out and blow the whole thing open.

Sounds to me like he is a jealous, brown noser!!!

Some people have no life so they do stuff like this.
I myslef would like to go to your job & kick him in the ball$!

I am glad you let him have it!!

Re: My work saga continues LONG

Okay since I know its not just me being sensitive this is what I wrote back and cc: my boss...

I really have had it with this place.

Dear **,

I'm sure you didn't mean to send this to me. I think this is a perfect example of the blatant double standard that is within this office. Other people leave early or go to doctor's appointments or take off early to go to bars, but I legitimately ask for the afternoon off...and suddenly it is in an issue.

For your reference, the time that I took off for my honeymoon, was something I negotiated with as a CONDITION of accepting employment here. My mistake is that I did not get anything in writing. If taking off 4 hours is an issue, then I am happy to take the full-time off. This is the first place, in many years, where no formal vacation policy and every single human resource issue is on a case by case basis. When I worked for * their policy was to take 7 hours and not 8, I brought it up because our system is foreign to me.

I think that in light of this, if I am docked those 4 hours then I would rather take the full-day and not miss my friend's wedding ceremony. Thank you.

Irene, wow, how do you deal with this pettiness. See how God works in mysterious ways??? Irene you will be ok. Try not to let this bother you, but document everything. If it was not written it was never done. IS this person the timekeeper or something?? why do you have to explain yourself so much...Sheesh.

Shamma,

The problem is I have no HR department. I work for a small place and the man who is my 'timekeeper' is also responsible for running programs. He has no HR experience and really its just a matter of him asserting his authority.

The whole time I have been here, I have been dealing with so much backstabbing. I know that its like that every place you work but this office is so small, its only 8 people. Even the intern is in on it. It's really unprofessional and I come home sick to my stomach. I feel like I'm always in a fight here.

How did your boss deal with issue? Without any formal vacation policy, it is hard to deal with this stuff. Even small companies can have a formal policy.

So sorry for you Irenie! I hope things somehow get better!

My boss basically came up to me and said are you feeling better? She said that I should be compensated for the time and left at that. She didn't get into it at all.

We have no HR policy they are 'planning' to do one someday...but there is no timeframe at all.

wow...that s*cks!!

I used to work at a company that was awful backstabbers!!

it was new (7 years old) and a woman asked me to do soemthing...I messed it up...but it was easily fixable...but she took it to a cowroker - lateral to me...he messed it up too!! then she wrote all the VPs about my incompetence...

that was the day I resigned...I had accepted another job anyway...I began the search b/c I found a perverted letter from my boss!! he just skeeved me out!!

where can you work...where there is NO backstabbing??? I need to know!!

Erica ... no where! It's all over, but in just different levels!

Irenie - sorry that you had to experience that. I would have 'flown off my handle' too! Aren't you going to school to become a teacher?

Irene!
I think the letter you wrote was excellent - I would be too upset to write so clearly!!! Yours was well though out, not emotional (really) and stated the facts and your prespective. I think you handled it well. I can relate to the feeling of people trying to 'get' you. I hope you start winning some repect over there or find a place that will REAL soon! You're in my prayers, Irene!!!

Sorry you are haveing this trouble.
This company is asking to be sued! Everything is handled on a case by case basis - not good at all.
How many people work there?

Irene - I think you work for a very weird company - case by case basis ***??? Anyway, I think the letter you wrote is very good. I am sorry you have to go through this. Here are some to helpyou.

I'm glad someone bumped this .. I missed this post the other day. You, my dear, will be ok. You wrote a concise, non-emotional letter ... handled it so well! I'm glad that you called this guy out on it. You should not be made to feel that you have to answer to him. He is not your boss. I am thinking about you ... I know that you will find a letter in your mailbox very soon that tells you that you are going to begin the rest of your life!! fm or call me if you need me!

You guys are so supportive. Sometimes I feel like is it me? I must be a weirdo in this place. I know I should not have any regrets in life...but I'm sorry I walked into this place.

I hope I find a letter in my mailbox soon too! For those that don't know I applied to grad school to become a teacher.
