Hi Ladies, I am still waiting for my copies of our Marriage License from Town Hall. When they come, who should I go to first??
DMV??? S.S???? I do not know where to begin. I have been just waiting for the copies to come, but I feel like I should be working on it. AND doing more. ANY IDEAS???

DMV would not let me change my name without my new SS card. So go to SS first.
Once you get your new SS card you can change your name on everything else that is attached to you SS number e.g. bank accounts, credit cards, employment info...

DMV ans SS office I did in the same day. They only look at your original they dont take the copies. You can get all the paper work you need on line so its saves time in the end. I did my banking they also just look at it. My credit card companies and my pasport needed an original copy. So those I did by mail. (It might depend on where you live, I did dmv first without any problems, then SS but both in the same day they only looks at the license quick and that was it)

I either did mine the same day or a day apart, but I was told that I would not be able to change at the DMV until I changed with SS so I went to SS first.

I changed my SS card first. When doing that, they give you a form, that states you were there. I just showed that to DMV, and they had NO problem with it. I also showed them my marriage license. Thats all I needed.

I went to SS first. Still haven't gone to the DMV. But I switched over my bank accounts, insurance and stuff at work. Still need to do my passport too.
