Name change question on passport

Hi girls, has anyone had a problem with sending their original marriage license to change their name on their passports? Did anyone make a copy? Thanks

Re: Name change question on passport

I am doing my passport last (after DMV & SS) & sending the original- the website said that they require an original.

Re: Name change question on passport

You have to send the original. I went to Town Hall and bought 2 extras this way I always have 1 on me.

Re: Name change question on passport

I have not done this yet, but always make a photo copy before sending an original document. We sent our original birth certificates to get our passports and they came back just as we sent them

Re: Name change question on passport

I went in person bc I had to get my passport expedited. I had to leave the original and they returned it the next day when we picked up the passport. I dont think you have anything to worry about with sending it.
