Name change/SS question

Name change/SS question

So last week I tried to change my name but the Social Security had my date of birth wrong and my mother's maiden wrong. It's apparently been wrong since 1986 and they had no idea why it was changed it was just noted as a change...go figure.

I got my brith certificate and my last name on my SS card and Birth certificate are one letter off. I have a very common spanish last name, so on all my paperwork (license, passaport, etc.) except for my birth certificate it's spelled VaZquez, on my birth certificate it's spelled VaSquez.

Do you guys think this will be an issue?

I just want to change my name to Dh's last name!

It might be. Call the department of health to have them send you a corrected BC.

UGh that's soo annoying..I went downtown to get it last week to get the copy of my birth certificate. I guess I could file for the change...but I still have to go downtown to Worth street.

It ***** because you would think they would've just matched everything to my birth certificate since you need a birth certificate to obtain a SS card and passaport. Not to mention it wouldn't be an issue if they wouldn't have changed my date of birth and mother's maiden name randomly in 1986.

Sorry but I would get this corrected ASAP this could cause problems with your earnings and you will have trouble when it comes time to apply for SS or any other type of government benefits. Also, you probably won't be able to e-file your taxes and some people even have trouble applying for loans.

I would get it all corrected ASAP.
