Name & SS# Change in NYC, just did both today!

It wasn't too bad, first of all in Manhattan I did not need to change the SS first before going to DMV, I went to the DMV midtown Express to change my name on license, it's on 34th Street and 8th Ave. opens at 8:00 - I arrived at 7:45 and was finished by 8:15. Then I took the shuttle to 42nd street to go to the SS office located on 2nd Ave and 41st street, they open at 9:00-got there at 8:50 and waited an hour and left at 10:00.

Both are done and out of the way!! You need to bring your License, Old SS card, Marriage License and possible a passport if you don't have a license.....you only pay for the License name change which is $5.00.

Check both websites for the specific day hours before going.

I just changed my drivers license yesterday. I went on Greenwich St in NYC, entered at 8:37, left at 9:00.

MUCH better than the first time I went. The only thing to note is that if you own a car and the title/registration is in your name, they make you bring in your title. I didn't know that the first time around and waited 90 minutes to find out.

Wow! That's great to hear. I'm going to do the SS name change tomorrow. The office near me opens at 8:00 am.

Yeah, I guess you don't have to but they didn't ask me, they just sent me over to the picture line and I wanted a new picture anyway.
