So I used a macy's charge to purchase something and I somehow must have forgot. However I was never billed, never called and than finally after 63 days was informed that I am 63 days past due on the account..which they have already reported to the credit bureau. I'm sooo pissed..because before this my credit was perfect (above 800!!!) Do you think there is anything i can do? Macy's wouldn't resolve anything..they took off one late charge and that was it..but I never received any ******** bills!!!!! It really pisses me off that they can just do this..

Re: need advice about credit card
I seem to forget sometimes about cards. Not a lot, but I've done it in the past. It stinks. So sorry you are going through this!!!

Just pay it off in full. Sometimes they say they report something when they don't and I am surprised they reported prior to 90 days.
One late payment should not really effect your score especially if it is that high!!!!!!!
Macys does crazy crap with their billing. They did that to me a few times -- forgot to send me the bill or sent it late. VERY FRUSTRATING!

That's so frustrating! Just pay it in full. It shouldn't affect your credit score that much considering you have a very good history...

Re: need advice about credit card
have you changed your address lately and do they have a current address?
sometimes if your address was recently changed and they may have mailed it to the wrong place, they will take it off.

Re: need advice about credit card
I'm so sorry. Is this your new Macy's card? I got a letter in the mail about 2 months ago saying the bank that offers my Macy's card was switched to another bank and I have to call them to cancel if I don't want to switch. I cancelled my card. Maybe this new bank screwed up the billing address. Also, make sure that you did make the purchase. There has been a lot of credit card fraud due to the poor economy.

wow that really suckss. I've had it happen to me before where you just never get a bill (as tho they actually WANT you to be late in your payment) That's why I never ever use those kinds of cards anymore.
Hopefully it'll be fine since you said that you already paid it off. Not much more you can do, I guess. But I really doubt that it'll affect your credit score that bad. Sorry it happened. What jerks.

Re: need advice about credit card
I hate Macy's too!!! The one I have is for the Macy's Store and Visa Card so I can use it for store charges as well as outside uses. Since I have other credit card charges, they sent me a letter saying that I have high revolving credit. They're not renewing my card even though I make all of the payments on time each month. In addition, I make an extra $200-$300 above the minimum payment. I have a $2,400 charge on their account and they're freaking out due to my other credit card charges (max out my other credit cards for our wedding last year ). You should report Macy's to Experian, TransUnion, Equifax http://www.fightidentitytheft.com/credit_bureaus.html . Even though it's mainly for identity theft, there are other related issues you can contact the bureaus to resolve the problem. I would let them know that Macy's sent out the billing statement extremely late. They're charing you a late penalty that effected your credit score.Try to dispute it and see if there is anything they can do to reverse your credit score. Hope that helps!

Re: need advice about credit card
I agree with all of the PP as well. I used to work for a collection agency though, and once it does go to collections you have a certain amount of time to pay it there before they report. Most places don't even report, it depends on who they send it to. If it's a 3rd party collection agency, I don't believe they report to your credit. But, being that it's Macy's they probably wouldn't send it to a 3rd party. Either way, they wont report it until the account is past due even with the collection agency. So you would've had time anyway.
Either way you have taken care of it now and that's what matters. ;) Sorry about that though. I do the same thing with my Walmart card, I don't use it anymore and I forget I have a balance lol I have never been late, but lately I am like a day or 2 late. UGH

Re: need advice about credit card
I highly doubt they reported it- I'd pay it and pull your report next month- even if they did report it- you can fight it- I will fm you the letter to send to them and the three credit bureaus- you send it to Macys & they have to respond within 30 days- if they dont the credit agencies have to remove the report. Its worked for me & for dh a couple times- some were legitimately our fault- but the companies still took it off- based on the overall credit with them
