Need Dress Help-PLEASE!!

Need Dress Help-PLEASE!!

Hi girls. Once again we desperately need your help. Ok, so I am the drama queen.

Here it goes:

Last night we went dress shopping for my sister. She is getting married January 18th, 2004. So we are getting pretty close, right. So we went to the Bridal Suite of Bayshore, we for the last year, 5 of our closest friends have gotten their dresses. My sister found the 'one'! :) However, it is out of her price range. The dress is $1,200. She was looking for like $700-800. Becuase of everything else they add on top of it, alterations, etc.

So here is my question. Would we be able to find this dress somewhere else for less (a lot less?). It is a Maggie Sottoro, and the style is Daniella.

If anyone can help us, it would be soo appreciated! My poor sister wanted to cry I felt so bad for her. You know when you find the one, but you can't afford it. I really wanted to cry for her, I think the salesgirls did too. They even tried to work iwth her but it was still too much. So please, help us!

Thanks,
Denise

Call Commack Wedding Center and get a price. They may be a bit cheaper- but I highly doubt by $400. She should just get it and reduce her budget some place else- maybe less on favors or flowers. At this point, she knows this is the one and nothing else will make her happy. maybe you or your mom could give her an early wedding gift and help her pay towards it??
Why did she try on a gown so far out of her price range? that is always nothing but trouble.

Re: Need Dress Help-PLEASE!!

I think she saw it in the catalogue and went to go look at it not knowing the price.

My mom is paying for the dress, so that is why she feels bad. Its not really in my Mom's budget, but I think they might split it. I will even throw in some money! :)

Thanks for responding, Michele.

you could go somewhere else...but the service there is great...you could compromise that...

but there is a store in CSH...the woman told my mom she could order any dress...and would beat any price...

could you haggle a bit with BS?

Re: Need Dress Help-PLEASE!!

It's available on netbride.com for $894. Maybe she can tell the bridal shop that she found it for a better price and try and bargain them down? While it's cheaper to buy it online, I don't know how much their shipping is, if you have any problems you have a huge hassle of sending it back, and you also have to store the dress until the wedding.
This is the dress right?

Has she tried ebay? Also, there are some other forums online where brides sell their used dresses (I don't know the sites offhand), if she's willing to wear a used dress, this might be an option worth looking into.

Thank you girls so much for all your effort! :) You are all THE BEST! :)

I emailed Net Bride and they don't have it they told me. Do you mean Bridesave.com?

Thats ok. Yeah I called and they are cheaper but not by much. Do you have experience with Bridesave.

Denise, try the bridal building, you would have to go in person, and bring a photo of the dress and mfr/style. alot of them can get dresses even if they dont have them. and alot of them have styles that are identical to designer styles for much less.

good luck ! youre such a great sis !

Re: Need Dress Help-PLEASE!!

Since RK Bridal carries it, I would get it there. My SIL got her dress there & didn't have any complaints. I would rather deal with a 'bridal store' that an internet company, if you have trouble, it may cost you more in the long run.

Good luck to her!
