Need everyone's thoughts .. (quickly, sort of)

Need everyone's thoughts .. (quickly, sort of)

My loving, dear, sweet husband sent flowers today in celebration of our 1-year anniversary. He sent them from Pro Flowers, which has always been amazing .. never a problem and always, always gorgeous flowers, especially the roses. However, this batch has a problem .. and I don't want my husband being cheated for his money.

Problem 1 - Four of the roses were apparently accidently sliced in some way about an inch below the bud, so when I removed them from the box, the buds fell free from the stems.

Problem 2 - The rose count is 11 .. an odd number, no?? Once again, I feel like my husband has been cheated.

My dilemma is over whether I should tell my husband .. so he can call for either some money back, or a certificate toward a future purchase or something. Part of me doesn't want to tell him because I don't want him to be offended. We never had luck with 1-800-Flowers roses, so that's why we switched, and he used to give me the impression that he felt like he let me down when bad (1-800-Flowers) flowers came .. which is so not true. I just hate companies cheating customers .. and with what flowers cost .. a bunch like this is just not acceptable.

Would you tell your husband or say nothing?? We talk periodically throughout the day, so he's going to be wondering soon about whether they came .. HELP!!

I would tell him - the flowers being sliced like that is not right. I am sure they will offer some kind of compensation if he lets them know he is dissatisfied, especially if he is a regular customer.

TELL HIM. He wouldn't want to spend money on something so sub par. Pro Flowers is a very easy company to do business with. I'm sure they'll compensate him in some way.

Happy anniversary to you! All the best for a WONDERFUL second year!

Kel,

We had a similar problem when we ordered, I would call them directly and voice your displeasure about the arrangement, and ask them to send a replacement, if they can't or won't I would get a refund. I'm sure if your hubby knew they were not up to par he would insist that they fix it

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Thanks girls .. you're the best!! That's exactly how I feel .. that I should tell him .. I just feel bad when he feels bad that bad flowers came! That's bad!

I would call them myself first and see if that gets you anywhere.. good luck! and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

I agree with Suzanne - I'd call myself. And then give him the good news on how they're gonna make it right.
Happy Anniversary!

First, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! Second, I agree -- I would definitely call them first and then tell my hubby. Why should he pay for something that wasn't up to standard! I'm sure they will send you a replacement order, after all, they don't want to lose any business!! Good luck and have a wonderful anniversary!!!

P.S. What did you get him for your first anniversary? Mine is in a week and I have no clue.....

yeah...happy anniversary....

I would call the store myself and tell them...I'm sure that they have your name down on the delivery sheet...so they will know you are a customer...

BTW...don't use 1800FLOWERS...especially for funerals...when people send flowers to funerals by phone usually its b/c they aren't going...well a few funerals I have been to...the flowers have not shown up b/c the company thinks they won't be there and wont notice...

Are you kidding??? They just don't deliver the flowers??? That's outrageous.

Re: Need everyone's thoughts .. (quickly, sort of)

Thanks everyone .. for the kind wishes and for the advice. I knew calling the company myself wouldn't work, because I went through that once with 1-800-Flowers, and they wouldn't do anything because it was his order, his credit card. Anyway, I knew I had to tell him, but didn't want to get into it at work .. just having a problem with someone there and prefer that this certain person not know my business .. so I told DH to come here .. he could tell when we talked about the flowers that there was something wrong! So, eventhough he wasn't happy there were problems with the flowers, he was glad I 'told' him .. Pro Flowers told him there would be a fresh delivery for me tomorrow! Boy, my desk is going to be cramped!!

Oh, and I second that about staying away from 1-800-Flowers .. we just never, ever have had any luck with them. Despite this problem from Pro Flowers .. I much prefer them, and we will certainly order from them again, unless this becomes a habit!

As for what I got him .. NOTHING, yet. He tricked me again. We said we were doing Mohonk Mt. as our present to eachother. Well, he never lives up to these deals .. and so I got flowers, and he hasn't gotten anything, yet. I was planning to send him flowers next week .. since that's when our anniversary is ... he just got the jump on me .. but these flowers last usually for 2 weeks. Other than that, I'm not sure.

I did tell him I wanted to have 1-year anniversary portraits taken .. I want to have them done at 1-year, 5-year, 10-year, etc. .. so we can watch ourselves age gracefully together .. and I want to put together a collage .. like they do for kids' school pictures. My mom said .... 'who wants to see themselves getting old' .. and my DH isn't all that crazy about the idea .. but I think when we get old(er), we'll be glad we did it .. like we look back to having gone back to redo the outdoor shots that got rained out on our wedding day .. DH is so glad now that we got all done up again .. and so am I!

Not married yet, but wanted to help if I could. well make ya laugh atleast.
Df sent me flowers for our anniversary and the card was incorrect (FTD.COM) instead of happy Anniversary type card he picked... And I kid you not, it was I hope through this we will be Friends...

LOL, totally knew they screwed up and he was PO'd.
That I got the 'lets be friends card!'

Awww!!

Come to think of you .. you just gave me a flashback to our early years when we were dating .. he sent me flowers for my birthday .. and they put 'Get Well' balloons instead of 'Birthday' balloons .. that was one of the 1-800-Flowers screw-ups .. besides the down-hill quality of the flowers. I do have to say I believe part of the problem with the poorer quality flowers is just whoever the local florist was for the area when I changed jobs a few years back ... because that's when the quality seemed to drop off.

A few years ago Patrick sent me a Vermont Teddy Bear, and the card said 'Love, Eddie'. I couldn't for thelife of me figure out who Eddie was,so I didn't say anything. Finally Patrick called and asked if I got the bear, and I just burst out laughing! I told him the whole story, and he was annoyed, but pretty soon my giggling got contagious and he was laughing too.
