need help with choosing album pics
I'm struggling to pick the shots for our album. Initially I wanted to do a documentary/story telling type album, but there ar so many great pictures of just DH and I that I could easily make the album mostly us. How did/are you picking your shots?

Re: need help with choosing album pics
i will be creating documentary/story telling type albums because 99.99% of my photos are just that...i am taking care of album creation myself so i can tailor them to my audience...it's hard to pick, it's taking me forever!

Re: need help with choosing album pics
We chose to 'tell the story.' We also mixed in group shots (bridal party, with his family, with my family, and then a page with 4 different extended families). I loved the candid shots our photographer got and I also wanted our children to be able to look at the album (in the future) and see all of their relatives. We have some beautiful pictures of just the 2 of us that our photographer took also. They're mostly 5x5. I found a company that specializes in photo albums, frames, etc... They carry that size frame. I think that I might frame some that I like and put them up as a series on the wall (when we have our
that is).I am so happy that I love the pictures our photographer took, but it definately made the whole process a lot harder.
ETA: Our album was/is 42 pictures. We placed our order and are now waiting to receive it.

We told the story too. It came out beautiful. Your photographer will ask you to bring your proofs when you do your album - they will help you pick it together and give you their opinion. We picked out the highlight pics of the wedding and of course pics alone of me and my husband....We did collages on some pages so that we included as many pics as we could.

Re: need help with choosing album pics
Thanks for all the advice! We're able to pick 70 pics and we narrowed it down to 135, so not too bad. We have to do another sort and then we'll have the photographers help us from there.

Re: need help with choosing album pics
I would suggest grouping your photos into sections (getting ready, ceremony, etc..)...then take your favorites from each section removing anything that isnt going to express what happened or an emotion, etc..You will also need some transition shots to create a cohesieve flow. So a photo of you two getting out of the limo to go to your reception. Or a photo of your dress to set the stage for the getting ready shots, etc.. I used details shots throughout so it varied it up a bit too.

Re: need help with choosing album pics
Thanks Stef! That's exactly how they're narrowed down so far and I have some detail shots to break it all up. I'm a designer by profession, so you wouldn't think this would be so difficult, but of course it is! lol!

Re: need help with choosing album pics
Ugg, we only got 250 proofs, and out of them we can't even pick the 30 (yes, 30) final pics to go in our album because we don't like any of them!!! There is NOTHING interesting about our proofs --- 'OK, look at me & smile, now cheel to cheek, now kiss' -- in front of maybe 5 different spots -- and that's it, except for random crummy shots of people dancing (NOBODY looks good dancing!!). Plus half the pics are too far away and the other half have too many shadows. So, you are lucky IMO to get to make a story!! I think that is a great idea, and that is what we wanted to do to.....damn!!

We are the opposite- we want to put in pictures of everybody else!I haven't really started yet, I am working on separating the pictures into different groups now.

Re: need help with choosing album pics
This is what we did.1-they were already in order (chronological from beginning of the day to the end)
2-then separate them from the same pose/location category (My photographer took a couple of the same poses)
3-then picked out the best ones from each category
4-then sorted though the best ones and picked as many we had pages per our albumn
but we went over photo count by a little, oh well
