Need some gift help

DH and I have a wedding to go to in May. It is a very inconvenient wedding because of when it is. It is the Friday of Memorial day weekend at 7:15 out in the Hamptons. It is going to take us 4 hours to get there and then we can't even stay at a hotel out there because they all require a 3 day stay. So anyway, I don't know what to give as a gift. The girl came to my wedding without her FH and gave me $125. What should I give her since both DH and I are going to hers. Should I double what she gave me since there are two of us ($250) or do you think $200 is ok to give? We are kind of tight on cash because our rent was just raised and we are looking for a house. She is not a close friend, but I don't want to be cheap. Thanks!!

I'd give $250......to me, the $50 difference is worth not having to agonize over whether i gave the 'right' amount.

I got a lot of $150's from couples....$200 seems fair.

jaime- give what you can.... many couples gave us $200, some $250, some more some less. believe me, were tight on money saving for a house and if i had to go to a wedding i would give what i could. $200 is plenty....
