Need some help navigating the city

Hi Ladies,

I have a friends bachelorette party on Saturday and could really use some help from those of you who know the city.

I'm meeting friends at Penn Station and then need to get to Grand Central. What do you think the easiest way is to get there? Cab? Is there a subway line? (I tried looking at the maps but it confused me more!)

Then from Grand Central (we're staying at a hotel right there and need to drop off our bags) we need to get to 57th between 5th and 6th (Bliss Spa) I think there's a stop on the F train at 57th and 6th. Is that right?

HELP! LOL. I'm so bad at this....any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

Penn to grand central (I ised to do this everyday and it took 11 minutes during rush hour).

Take the 1,2,3 one stop. Then get out and catch the Shuttle (S) to Grand Central.

For anything else use www.hopstop.com.

HTH!

There's no direct train to get from Grand Central to 57th and 6th. When I lived in the 'burbs I used to make that trip every day, it's a pain. You can take the 4/5 from GC up to 59th St and then transfer to the N/W/R downtown to 57th and 7th, or, you can take the 7 from GC to Bryant Park and then transfer to the F uptown to 57th and 6th, but either way they're both a pain considering a cab in this case it just as easy. It's one of those trips where for the short distance you're traveling, there's just nothing direct/convenient and with the time it takes it's almost quicker to walk or take a cab. I'm always all about mass transit but in this case it's not any easier, If it's a nice day and not too hot, you can walk. It's a nice walk up 5th Ave then hook a left at 57th.

i work right near the bliss spa, so the best bet is the F to 57th st, which will leave you 1/2 block away.

if you're going to from penn to Grand Central on the weekends, take the 1, 2 or 3 one stop to 42nd st, but instead of taking the shuttle, take the 7 train two stops to grand central. the shuttle sometimes doesn't run on the weekends, or if it does, it's super slow, so the 7 may be a better choice.

to go from grand central to bliss, take the 7 train one stop to 5th ave, then transfer to the F train. HTH.
