need some input (job related)

need some input (job related)

Well, a while back I went on a job interview and got hired, but I ended up not taking it. The place was great, but the pay they offered was absurd (without any real option of getting a raise in the near future). I just couldn't afford that, although now that I've been jobless I'm kind of wishing I had. But oh well - can't go back in time

So there's this other place I'd LOVE to work at. It's right near my house and seems very friendly and i hear they pay pretty well. I'm overly qualified for a position there, but when I went to bring my resume on Friday, they said that they weren't hiring at the moment, but would definitely take my resume and she asked me to fill out an application. I was a little disappointed, but then I remembered that at my old job we did the same thing. When people would come in looking for work, we'd always say we weren't hiring, but then would call if we were interested (after reviewing their resume and such). So I'm hoping that's the issue here, because i REALLY want this.

Well i went back today (Monday) and gave them the application, but the boss wasn't in, so I just ended up giving it to a secretary. Not sure where to go from here. I was kind of hoping that I could talk to the Boss today when I went back, but oh well.

Here's the question - should I CALL at all this week?? I really really don't want to seem TOO persistent, so I'm afraid that calling (even after they said they weren't hiring at the moment) might be a bad move. But maybe it would be a good thing to call on Wednesday or something and ask if she had the chance to look over my resume? I really don't know what to do. What do you think???

I think you should write a letter to the boss. Tell her you recently submitted an application but wanted to send her a note to tell her how much you would like to work for her company and why.

I could do that. But do you mean to mail it? Cause showing up and handing her a letter would make me feel silly

This sounds like a really great idea! GOOD LUCK

I agree, I would email a letter to the boss or mail it. Just simply stating that you were in last week inquiring about a position and you wanted to thank him/her for taking the time to review your app and resume and just reiterate how much you want to be considered. Good luck!

I dunno... even when I'm hiring someone, if I get someone who is too pushy w/the interview/resume process it totally turns me off to them and they are the LAST person I consider hiring.

Mail the letter. Or email.

It's so much better without any pressure. Good luck!

Cassandra, mail the letter. I think it would look really nice esp if you are complementing the co, saying you would really like to work there because blah blah ... whatever your reasons are. Good luck!
