How many proofs does that include? How many hours of coverage? In my opinion, those two factors are way more important than the albums.

thanks,

iam emailing the photographer tonite to find out how many proofs he guarantees, but i am pretty sure i get him all day from start to finish. but i will double check.

What photographer is it? What sort of photography (style) do you like?

my fi and i love photojournalism, so we are thinking about booking perceptions, who gave us that quote. i have seen so many photographers at expos and i really like his work the best. they specialize in photojourn and actually the extra photographer is for color portraits, i got it wrong in my previous post.

i found out that it is 600 proofs, is that reasonable?

600 is an average number of proofs...but I don't think that it is enough if you want to get the photojournalistic feel IMO...yes candids...but not so much photojournalism...

under $3000 is a good price for a photog...but you must take many things into account

600 photos per photographer or total for both? For two photographers, 1200 photos sound reasonable for a photojournalistic feel. But if its 600 for both, that is way too low.

I agree with Stef. If all you really liked was posed photos than 600 would be fine, but you need a lot more for photojournalism.
Also, you will want more photos in your album. Trust me. Ask how much additional pages are going to cost you? Does he/she shot in b&w and high speed for no-additional charge?

I highly recommend Mark Kauffman if you want photojournalism. His price will be higher but you will love your photos.

I think you will definately end up wanting more than 40 pixs in your album. You might also want to think about doing a 10 x 10 album instead of 8x10. Take a look at samples of both and you will see what I mean.

Re: need some newlywed advice about photography

why is 600 too low for photojourn?

Re: need some newlywed advice about photography

There are lots of reasons but the easiest answers are:

a) photojournalistic like photographers need to take many more photos than traditional because in order to 'Journalize' you day, the photographers need to be taking photos all day long, not just during those 'key' moments. Assuming you have 2 photographers taking 300 pictures each, thats only about a roll an hour. If you factor in the inevitable problem photos (someone blinks, someone turn around, etc..) that is not enough.

b) Photojournalistic photographers still should be doing some posed so you need a few roles of that AT LEAST (even if you dont like posed photos and limit them to a certain part of your day)...so right there, you are taking a few rolls out of the 10 that your photographer is shooting bringing down the average to even less than 1/hour per photographer.
