Re: Need some weekend getaways places??

Hey Denise!

How about Mystic, CT? Or Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun? Montauk (we stayed at the Montauk Manor which was very nice)? There are some great bed and breakfast places in Newport, RI....I will keep thinking...We are going to Princeton next weekend...I grew up there but it is a great town to visit...

Re: Need some weekend getaways places??

What time of the year? I would recommend Block I sland, RI but in the Summer.

If its for now:
Mystic, CT
Foxwoods
Mohegan Sun (you can combine the first 3)
Cape Cod (spring or summer)
Boston
Newport, RI

As for Winter, Boston is always good.
Or Mystic or the casinos.
Newport you can do in the winter too.

Re: Need some weekend getaways places??

I actually had a great time going to Montauk last Valentine's. The whole town is deserted but we walked along the beach for hours collecting shells and looking for seals (didn't see any...). Dress warm though! So many cute restaurants to go to...

Let's see....We have been to the Crow's Nest, Gosman's, Gurney's Inn, and Shagwong. We also had brunch at the Montauk Manor where we stayed, which was delicious!

I love Montauk. That is where we got engaged. We have been to Gosman's, Crow's Nest, Shagwong, Oyster Pond, O'Murphy's. They are very good.

Re: Need some weekend getaways places??

Baltimore - the inner harbor has a great shopping area and there is a lot to do. Or, one of those Pocono couples resorts... there is always a bunch of stuff to do what ever season. Fort Lauderdale can also be a lot of fun. Quick and cheap plane ride and you could stay on the strip.

Re: Need some weekend getaways places??

Intercourse, PA!! OK Amish area of PA is nice, as are the Poconos. We go often to VT. How about Hudson River Valley? Tarrytown and surrounding are are nice....

We are going to Key West next weekend for a 3-nighter.

Re: Need some weekend getaways places??

I was going to recommend FoxWoods also. DH and I went there the weekend after our wedding for our 'post-wedding get-away'. DH loves to gamble and I do NOT but we had so much fun. Our room was gorgeous with a nice view, we ate at a nice restaurant called Al Dente, had drinks in a jazz club and then walked around in and out of the shops and had cappucino and cheese cake at a coffee shop. When DH wanted to gamble I went back to the room and took advantage of the huge tub. The next day we hit Mystic and did the tourist thing.

Block Island is really nice too but I'm not sure how it is this timne of year.

Re: Need some weekend getaways places??

We just went to the Poconos last weekend and we had a blast. We went with friends and rented a great house with a fireplace and hottub, and basically just ate, drank, and relaxed all weekend. Even though we were lazy, there were tons of things we could have done- like skiing, tubing, orsebak riding, outlet shopping, etc...
Another suggestion is spending the weekend in NYC. My DH and I are doing that this weekend for my birthday. We got the hotel from Priceline, we're going to see a show on Saturday and a Knicks game on Sunday. Everything else we're just going to play by ear.
