New Calorie Posting Law

New Calorie Posting Law

What are your thoughts on this new calorie posting law? I HATE it, I realize that it is there to help people and I am trying to be rationale about it, but the last thing I want to do is look at a menu and see the calories in what I want to eat... makes me feel guilty, which works in that I dont end up ordering what I want, but it takes away one of the great pleasures in life. I went to cosi over the weekend, not even that unhealthy a place, or so I thought, and I ended up leaving because of the stupid calorie rule! UGH

clearly work paired with a lack of junk food is making me very cranky today!

i gotta say--i'm kind of happy about it. i am NOT a health conscious person......and i've decided to make a life change and pay attention to calories and such. i think a lot of people don't realize how bad they eat when they think they are making 'healthy choices' with things like casual dining restaurant salads that are just as bad as having a hamburger and fries sometimes!

completely agree. i barely eat out as it is, but the once in a while i do, i dont wanna see how unhealthy my meal will be. i think it should just be available for those who request to see it.

I hear ya, I am totally torn (though I (selfishly)hate it more than I like it), I definitely think it will help people to make better choices, I guess sometimes I just want to make the bad choice without feeling guilty.

As a WW member, I'm all for it b/c I can easily figure out pts. But in general, I think it's a good thing.

I'm all about it. I like to know what I'm putting in my body and take responsibility for it. Everyone needs a treat sometimes!!!

Same here. But then again I figure sometimes I splurge at home and the calories are listed right there on the box. Plus I usually split my meal in half when I go out to eat so then I do not feel as bad.

i'm actually really happy about it. i've asked to see info like this before and most places don't have it and look at you like you have 17 heads. honestly, if i'm craving fries, nothing is going to stop me from getting them, not even a glaring calorie count.

honestly, i'm thrilled! i have to take people out to eat alllll the time with my job, and i'm always thinking something is at least semi-healthy, but then when i find out later it's loaded with calories, i feel so bad and my jeans don't fit!!

I think it's great. People should know what they're eating, and as much as we can say 'oh, well, they can find it if they want to know' a lot of people don't, or won't think of it, or will go to a place like cosi and think they're eating healthy when they're really not.

I'm all for it. If you know you're 'splurging' and getting something unhealthy for you, then why feel guilty just because you know exactly how many calories are in it? I'm I've made the conscious decision to splurge, I do it knowing how many calories are in there. I don't want to be surprised.

im happy about it. it will help me make healthier choices. i need some guilt to stop me from indulging, and keep me on course with watching my diet.

I LOVE IT!

I love it b/c there are a lot of meals out there that come off as the 'healthy option' when that is not the case at all.

I want to know if the melted chicken pesto has more calories than the chicken parm. in most cases the item you think would be less calories, ends up being equal or greater.

ITA. It helps you be more health concious and honestly if you were planning to 'be bad' and eat a whopper, knowing how many calories are in it when you're rigth THERE inhaling the delicious scent of grease will probably not turn you away. Same goes for fondling a box of oreos in the superamrket. After I have started making love to it with my eyes, it doesn't matter if the calorie lavel says 500 per 1 cookie. I am going to eat it, then cry and whine later.
