Hey girls....someone just emailed me about a new scam that's being done so I thought I would share. It was done at Walmart but it can happen in any store. When you pay with a debit card, sometimes the cashier can enter if you want cash back. Some cashiers are doing this without the customer realizing and then pocketing the cash. When the customer gets home they see on their receipt that there's a cash back amount that they didn't ask for. There's nothing that can be done about it because the store has no way of proving that you were not given the cash (unless you catch it in the store at that moment). One cashier was caught pocketing the money so now what they are doing is they have one of their friends stand behind you in line. They enter a cash back amount on your debit card, don't give it to you, then hand it to the next person in line (their friend) so nothing looks suspicious. Check your receipts before you leave the store from now on! People are getting desperate during this recession!
seriously! that is craziness!!! this is why i do all my shopping online! not that thats prob soo safe either!

Re: New Scam to Watch Out For
I had something similar happen to me- at a gas station.
I got a 100 dollar giftcard. I got like 20 bucks worth of gas. I went home. Check the giftcard balance online. Turns out that there was a balance of only 25 bucks left. The gas station was able to somehow charge me more money.
I got the gas from BJs so I called corporate. They took care of it and fired the attendant who was running a scam.
So when using ANY card, always use caution.

Re: New Scam to Watch Out For
I'm gonna hijack your post..... because it goes along with the same theme
Even be careful buying things online this season, especially with ebay sellers and unauthorized amazon dealers.
I made an ebay purchase for like $30, put it through paypal, and got a phone call from my credit card company a week later that someone tried using my credit card for a $247 purchase (thank goodness they caught on to it and was able to refuse the transaction).
Scam artists are out there, I tell you!

Omg, thanks so much for sharing the info. I shop for household stuff there all the time. I always put no cash back when I pay for my stuff. It's really good to know!
