And the emergancy call we put in this morning didn't help, because THEY NEVER SHOWED!!!
UPDATE- we have heat as of 3pm!!! I am soooo excited!!! Thanks for so many hugs and love!

I'm sorry for you...I feel for you. I was without heat right after I got home from work Thursday night until last night. My DH was working on it all day yesterday. We slept with a space heater so it wasn't too bad. In the morning when I came out of the room...the rest of the house was freezing! He ended up having to just put a new boiler in. Then when he was testing the unit, he found that a pipe burst because the heat was off for so long. He was only finishing up when I got home from work last night. It took so long for the house to heat up because it was off for so long and was so cold out, it only started to really warm up when I was curled up under my comforter.
Early this morning, the temperature was still kind of low, but by time I got up, it was fine. Later in the day I lowered the heat because I got warm when I was cleaning. It started to feel chilly so I raised it again. And then I noticed I had NO HOT WATER!! I called him right away, because he left early this morning and is going to be away. For some reason the burner kicked off. I did what he said, but then it kicked off again. I have to go check now to make sure it didn't happen again. I'm aggravated. Sorry so long, I'm just frustrated.
I can't believe they didn't show up! When was the last time you called them?

Sounds to me like somebody's pipes are frozen
It is happening all over. My mother is now experiencing it , and friends and I went to the store and herd people on the phone talking about it to others.
It is very cold out and most contracts on the hot water heaters - plumbing is not included and lots of plumbers don't want to be bothered with the job. It can be very big and long and tedious. It can hours just to find which pipe it is.
My husband is doing the job right now as we speak for Mom's... I am home still waiting. He has been at it since about 3:30ish

Fortunately my DH is a plumber! By time we realized it Thursday night it was too late to go get the piece he thought it was. He went first thing yesterday morning and couldn't figure out what the problem was...no one could (his father and other relatives are plumbers too). Finally, even his father said, just go get a new boiler. He keeps saying how much he hates oil! That was early in the afternoon. But, then from there being no heat all that time, yes, sure enough a pipe froze. Then he had to figure out where. So, it ended up taking him the entire day. When he picked me up, I looked at him and almost laughed...he looked like he had eyeliner that smudged he was so dirty. I just finished cleaning the washer and dryer before because it makes such a mess. I'm sure they are on so many calls...I feel bad for people who are without heat still. It's really cold again tonight.

I hope it gets fixed soon!!!! In the meantime, I will tell you what a friends mom said last Saturday, 'It's been a cold winter so I expect to see lots of babies this summer.'

We had frozen pipes yesterday. We live in NC and our hot water heater is in an uninsulated shed and the pipes are next to an uninsulated exterior wall! So, of course it frozen when it went down to 9 the other night...I don't know what genius designed the pipes! I guess it typically doesn't get this cold here, though, and by late afternoon, the water was flowing again.
Sorry for all of you girls without heat! Snuggle up with your electric blankets!
