No Honeymoon =(

We are going home to Ireland for Christmas. And we were supposed to go to Scotland for New Years. Well, thanks to airlines & hotels charging like triple we have decided to cancel our honeymoon.

I'm upset but, I know it's for the best. I'd rather have the money for our son, or a house. We might try to do something in Ireland like a few days away. But, we will see!

Thanks for letting me vent/bit

Re: No Honeymoon =(

Just a thought...

My brother and his wife went to Ireland a few years ago and spent a few evenings in various castles. He said it was really cool.

Re: No Honeymoon =(

Tracy

Thats just not fair - I know its better in the long run, but you must be devastated, is there any where you can get away to for a little while? Even on LI before you go? Maybe a weekend trip out east?

Re: No Honeymoon =(

Tracy I'm so sorry.

I know it's not the same, but I agree with Dubliner... maybe you could take a little getaway to somewhere close by? Then you can still save for your trip to Ireland, and still go someplace now.

So sorry. I know that during the holidays things travel is more expensive. Maybe you will get to go another time soon and when the weather is nicer?

Re: No Honeymoon =(

Sorry about your news

Did it have to be around Christmas and did you have to go to Ireland. Right now British or Virgin airlines are having really good sales to England and Paris for like $221 per person. I saw Liberty Travel running great specials in the paper this past weekend.

Sorry about your news
We also did not go on a Honeymoon. After spending so much on our wedding we decided to save the money and stay home. We took day trips to the Hamptons and NYC. Maybe you could do something like that. Hopefully it will all work out for you.

Re: No Honeymoon =(

MayDay-We are going to be in Ireland for 3 1/2 weeks. My husbands whole family is still there so we're spending Christmas with them. (alot of my family are there as well.)

I know we should be satisfied w. just that. But, being parents we don't get much alone time. His sisters would of taken care of our son!

oh POOPIE.

that stinks!

ya know what though? Maybe take a little three-four day excursion somewhere. Fall is here. The foliage is beautiful soon up in Upstate NY, VT and CT - and tons of affordable little B&B's....

You could do something else for now and then go a little later when they offer better prices.

3 1/2 weeks in Irelands sounds like a beautiful HM to me. I am sure you can take a long weekend, just the two of you.

Re: No Honeymoon =(

How about a weekend away at a local B and B? Or stay at the hotel you're staying at for your wedding for a few extra days...
