now that your married.....

now that your married.....

do you feel that sometimes your friends still treat you differently, b/c you're married now?
Six months later, I'm still getting all of these questions about how life may have changed, what made me fall in love, blah blah blah......tonight I had dinner with girlfriends and it felt wierd....like they were inhibited to talk about dating...so I brought it up.
I want to tell them....'just b/c I'm married...i'm not special.....90% of the population does it!'
It was wierd. Does anyone else have these experiences?
Perhaps I'm just over thinking/reading into it?

No, it happens sometimes when you get married. Your 'Single' friends think that you're different. Almost like getting married is a diseaase and it's taboo to discuss. Just let them know you're not a different person b/c your married. Your lifestyle just isnt the same as it used to be.

Yeah I find that they don't include me in things as much anymore. But that is okay.

When they do stuff like that to me it's messed up only b/c they are the ones that have changed not you. To me personally when people do stuff like that intentionally they are jealous and just never wanted to admit it to your face so they try to kind of faze you out, by saying well I didnt think you'd be interested. Or since you're married now I didnt think you could hang out. As if getting married means you went and got a 3rd parent

Well it can be weird sometimes, we are the first couple of all of our friends to get married. Another couple got engaged last fall and is getting married in October, so that made it a lot less weird. But before that, it was like we were nuts, like what are you doing?!! Some people when they see us still lead with, 'Dudes, you're married!!' And we're like, 'yup'.

No, it's the same with all of us... I've been with my DH for almost 9 years so in their eyes, we've been married forever
DH grew up with us all so they're all comfortable talking to him about ANYTHING along with me...

But I do know that sometimes people get like that.. it's weird! I had friends married 3 years ago and I never treated them differently.. It was still the same old friend I always had.

I get a little of this, but I also get the 'well since your married now' thing

I totally know what you are saying. I was the first one of my friends to get married, and most of them aren't even dating someone special.

I was afraid that this would happen, but all my friends have treated me exactly the same and actually since we moved to Albany I talk to a bunch of my friends on a more regular basis on the phone than I ever did before because we can;t go out to dinner in a group or anything so I really know whats going on in everyones lives.
