So I changed my name yesterday at Social Security. But it takes 2 weeks to get my new card. But I think I can bring the paper they gave me that says that to the DMV- am I correct? Also, should I start changing my name on my credit cards now or wait the two weeks?
Im dumb for not saving it to my notebook, but does nayone have one of the many lists with what I should be changing my name on?

I don't think you need your SS card to change your name on your license... UNLESS you were getting a NY license for the first time.

I'm sure if you checked the SS website they'd provide you with all the info... as for the list, search 'name change' and a million threads will come up. Those will have all the info you need

the dmv never asked me for my ss card when i changed my name, and for my credit card i just called them over the phone and they changed everything and didnt ask for a copy of anything
eta: i know ss says you will get your card in 2 weeks, but i got mine in about 5 days

i did the same thing Gina - but I did them both in one day. I didn't need my SS for my drivers' license & i even switched states.... I got my NJ drivers' license when i changed my name & they didn't need it - so you should be 100% fine!

btw, can we talk about how friken easy it is to get a ss card? Ummm I went and had my birth certificate, license, passport, and marriage license. They took the marriage license and that was it!!!! They didn't even ask for picture id!!! Isn't that weird???? I was like offering up ID and she was like I dont need that.

I don't know if NJ and NY are different in that respect, but I didn't have to show any ID other than my marriage license (in order to change my name) and my NY license in order to get a NJ one. There was a charge though - so be prepared for that.

In the meantime while you wait for your new SS card i would be calling up credit card companies to change your info. However some of them actually requested that i fax them a copy of my drivers license just for verification. Others didnt ask for anything.
