Does anybody know a good nursing home in Nassau County. I am hoping to find one that my aunts insurance will cover but I don't know anything about them and don't want to put her in a bad place. TIA!

I know there is one in East Rockaway -- not that sure about it but it has been there forever so I can't imagine that there is major problems with it.
What about Suffolk -- is that an option? I can find out where my grandfather was. Again it has been more then 10 years but he was very happy there.

Kim, I will talk to our discharge planning team at work tomorrow to get their thoughts on the best Nassau County Nursing homes. I am a social worker so we deal with all of the nursing homes on Long Island. If you have any specific questions you can FM me.

I would wait and see what Christine comes back with tomorrow. Like I said I just know it is there -- good or bad I couldn't say.

My grandmother was in Broadlawn Manor - its right on the Nassau Suffolk border, not sure if that is too far for you. . .
The place was always very clean and the grounds were beautiful. The staff for the most part seemed very nice - but of course we encountered a few people we weren't fond of over the years. I would recommend it though - they took good care of her.
Everyone has had different experiences with nursing homes, so I don't want to write bad things on here about a place where someone's relative might be - but I'll FM you. . .

My grandmother is in Fulton Commons in East Meadow. She is a permanent resident and has been for a few years now. Overall it is a nice place and the regular staff is very good.
If you want more info FM me!

Re: Nursing Home in Nassau County
My MIL was at Parker Jewish right by LIJ. When the time came, she stayed at Parker and received hospice care there as well. Good thing about Parker is that LIJ is right across the parking lot, should she need any medical care the home can't take care of.
My mom was at Grace Plaza in Great Neck. Very nice facility, not too far from the train station. She did rehab there after a leg fracture.
Margaret Tietz (in Queens) is also very nice. They were the first facility in Queens to offer inpatient hospice care. We were trying to get MIL in here, but Parker came thru first.
