When we first started planning our wedding in 2008 my parents sat DH & I down and asked us what was something we 'had to have' at our wedding. DH said he had to have an ice cream sundae bar. I said a DOC because I didn't want to worry about anything the day of.
So what did you and DH 'Have to Have' at your wedding?

I love it!
DH HAD TO HAVE a male officiant. Would not even entertain the idea of a female one. Not sure why, at all.
But together, we both HAD TO HAVE a non-obtrusive DJ. I did not want our DJ singing, dancing with our guests, or talking too much.

DH didn't have to have anything for the wedding, he just wanted to show up, he didn't know anything that was booked

i had to have a string quartet...
DH...i dont think there was anything he insisted we have.
eta: oh and i had to have high CPs....I wouldnt budge on that lol

I didn't HAVE to have anything at first. I had never really even thought about the extra details before wedding planning. Now things I wanted after I found out about them...VH, fancy cardbox, dinner singer, chair cover/sashes...

Otherwise I didn't really have any must haves... it all came together as we were planning. I knew what I didn't want and where I wasn't willing to blow the budget and where I was.

I really really really wanted a big poofy dress
DH really wanted to pick the cocktail hour music so I let him and people really listened to 'the hulk theme' 'batman' 'superman theme' and other various totally superhero and tv show theme shows.

We had to have a vegetarian menu; DH and I are both vegetarians for compassionate reasons and didn't want to compromise our ethics on our wedding day.
That being said, we needed a CREATIVE veggie menu; we didn't want anyone to miss the meat!
One person had something to say about it Everyone else raved and got to try things that they had never tried before.
