I'm all messed up this morning. Clearly posted this on the 2010board and didn't realize until I posted

Goodmorning ladies!

IR just got off the phone with my dad, who tells me that he's on his way to play the mega millions. I know a lot of people play, so I was wondering....

If you won the mega millions jackpot (330 million) what three things would you do with the money? What would you NOT do with the money?


If I were to win the mega millions (which I won't because I don't play...but I'm hoping my parents will win and slide me some cash), the first three things I'd do with the winnings are:

1- give a significant portion to my parents and inlaws. They've sacrificed soooo much for dh and I all our lives, the definitely deserve at least half.

2- pay off ALL my debt and dh's debt....I'd wanna go and pay my student loan debt in person and slam the cash on the counter (try to spike it like a football) and leave.

3- purchase 3 modest homes....one in NYC ( probably a Brooklyn brownstone), one in the south or out west, and one on an island like Dominican republic or st. Lucia

One thing I would NOT do is tell anyone! I'd be the anonymous jackpot winner and keep it as quiet as possible. I guess people would wonder about the homes etc....but I'd like as few people knowing ad possible...especially extended family! I don't need a bunch of cousins I've never met coming out the woodworks begging.

I would move off Long Island, buy a house for us to live in year round.

I'd give my brother money to go to the school he's trying to get into.

I'd hire a financial planner to help me figure out just how much exactly I'd have to put away so that we could live off the interest.





I wouldn't quit working.
I wouldn't give any money to my old schools
I wouldn't keep it all to myself but I wouldn't tell the world I was the winner either.

Totally agree with the school thing!!! I laugh when I see the alumni giving solicitations in the mail...uhh thank you for my Masters degree but according to my student loan balance...we're about even!

Why wouldn't you quit working? Do you like your job that much? Would you scale down hours or find a different job?

1) I would buy a house for me and get the hell out of my crappy condo!

2) I would give lots of $$$ to my parents and some $ to some of my other family members who are having a tough time right now.

3) I know this is the cliche answer, but I would really like to give a large donation to the ASPCA...for sureeeeeee!

4) I know you asked for 3...but I thought of 1 more! I would TRAVEL! I haven't been any where outside of the US and I think its about time!!!!

After the first three are taken care of I'd definitley want to

- Donate money to a friend of mine who is working with Haitian children in Florida who were displaced because of the earthquake

-Travel is definitely on the agenda!! I'd love to visit Africa again..probably relax on the sands of Zanzibar...safari in Botswana

If I won mega millions I thingk I would
but I never play so . . . .

first I would not tell anyone.
I would go out and buy of my family and close friends new cars and deliver them to their houses

then I would but myself houses on the water on long island, florida, cali, italy. . . .

and put money into a business, I fell like I could never not work and running this business would be my job.

and I want a live-in maid

I would pay off debt, buy a house, travel, give money to my parents, siblings, and inlaws and then invest the rest.

I do play Mega and if I was to win I would

I know you asked for 3 but I have more

1)give my parents, my brother money and pay off my other brother and sis-in-laws mortgage and give them money
2) I would put money in a trust for my niece and nephew for college
3) Add a second floor on our house in Greenport
4) Quit my job and travel the world
5) Get a financial advisor and invest

What I would not do is tell anyone- I would not go on TV

First three things I would do:

- Pay for a private Pearl Jam show for me and all my tour buddies.

- Take my immediate and extended family on a VERY COOL vacation.

- Give a large amount to the Catskill Animal Sanctuary and Farm Sanctuary. I already support them, but I would love to do more.

One thing I would not do is quit working. I wouldn't work where I am now, but I can't imagine that I would be content with being this young and never working again. I need to do something to feel productive.

There is so much I would do..... but to keep it short (though I can' t just list three!)..

1. I would pay off all our debts, pay off our condo and give it to someone who's homeless... then buy a house with a very large yard for the pups.

2. I would set up both of our parents, siblings, neices and nephews so they'd have not a worry.

3. I'd donate a ton of money to some of my favorite animal shelters.

4. I'd buy a small flat in Paris and spend a few months there

5. After traveling a bit.... we'd then adopt more dogs and cats... and hire help for them when DH and I want to travel.

6. Travel, Travel, Travel!!!

I wouldn't ...
stop working... I'd quit my job, for sure... but I'd then volunteer my time at various charities

This is hard to answer just 3 things so I MIGHT go over...and I bought my tickets today and I was making a deal with G-d on my way to work trying to win HAHA

1. We would buy a house, nothing crazy, on the North Shore, 3-4 bedrooms, 2-3 bathrooms but big rooms.

2. Put away a nice amount of money to set up for children's college funds so that we wouldn't have to worry about that.

3. Give money to my 2 sisters and SIL so they can all pay off their student loans from Masters programs and med school.

4. TRAVEL around the world for a year with DH and take time off from work.

5. Donate a LARGE portion to cancer research and Sloan.

5. Buy a timeshare somewhere so we can continue to travel.

6. Give the parents money to help them out and of course my dad another classic car!

7. Start making those babies!!!!

What I would NOT do...

1. Let people who find out think they we can be my friend...

2. I WOULD quit my job BUT I would go back into working in radio...

If I won I would
1- Buy a house
2- Pay off my student loans
3- Go on a cruise with DH and my family

I wouldn't- be too careless with it or too greedy

330 mil???

I would put 1 million each in a fund for each of my nieces and nephews for when they turn 21. I would give my parents some loot and my IL's a post card from wherever we are. LOL I would buy a house here and 1 in North Carolina. Get us some desperately needed new cars and put the rest of the $$ away. Maybe after winning mega, I would feel more financially stable to contemplate the idea of children.

I can think of hundreds of things I would do, but those are the first in my list.

Things I wouldn't do:
There isn't much I wouldn't do

First thing I'd do is call my Mom and tell her to not go to work the next day, or the day after that, or the day after that... etc. (she works her asss off and always has to give me and my sis what we want)

Then I'd give half away to charity. DH and I already discussed this... really who needs 330 mil really?, Us and our families would be set! So we'd give half back

Then, I'd buy a house in East Hampton and a Penthouse loft in NYC, a white range rover and plan a trip around the world with our entire family

I would give 25% to my parents and sisters (3 of them)....01% to IL's lol...yes you read right.... .01 percent...... keep the rest for DH and I so we can buy a house in Dominican Republic, Florida, and California,...and travel the world..and invest the rest of the money...I would not quit my job and pretend like nothing happened! SERIOUSLY!
