Anyone ever plan/help to plan one? My sisters and I are planning my fathers and we have no idea what to do.
We know what hall and food, but after that we're stumped.
Any ideas?

What else do you want to do exactly?
I know you usually get a really, really nice gift for your retirement lol Other than that, It's just another celebration I suppose.

Re: NWR-Retirement party
that's the hard part. next is invitations and favors if you are doing them... and entertainment in case you are providing it.
we did parties for my parents' anniversary and big birthdays; it's the same idea depending on how many people you are inviting

My 'sister' is designing the invitations and we are going to do hershey bars for favors.
Are there supposed to be games?
We are going to have music piped in and the hall has a dance floor.

I don't think you need to have any games. But i would maybe have a few people give short speeches. Maybe someone's thats worked with him the longest, a family member who knows how hard he worked, etc. And maybe present a special gift to him afterwards. Then i would just tell everyone to eat, dance and party!

Re: NWR-Retirement party
We did one a few years ago for my grandma. We had it at the Irish Coffee Pub, really nice. Just close family, friends, and some co-workers. No games or anything, just a dinner, and a few toasts.

Re: NWR-Retirement party
At my dad's retirement party, a bunch of his coworkers got up and said a few words about him (some of them had worked with him for over 20 years) so it was really nice. A few of them almost kinda roasted him a little which was pretty funny. Then my dad got up and made a short speech. The rest of the night was basically just eating and dancing!

Aww, good for your Dad!!!!
I think you have it all set - if you have food and music, everyone will have fun! Depending where you are doing it though, you might have to think about decorations (tablecloths, etc.)
Are you having it where you had your engagement party?

Are you having a lot of people? Hire a DJ! Do balloons as the CPs.

Def get a DJ. All the old people will get drunk and dance to 50-cent. So fun!
Also, maybe you can do a slide show and ask guests to send u pics?
