Obama said, 'I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.'
Ms. California,
'I think it's great Americans are able to choose one or another,' she said. 'We live in a country where we can choose: same sex marriage or opposite marriage.' 'You know what? In my country and in my family think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there. But that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be: between a man a woman.'
So what is the big deal here? Our president of the United States had the same answer, just in a dif form of words.

Yeah he actually made sense thats the difference. He didnt blow it when it really mattered. (Someone well-spoken and intelligent vs. someone who isnt)

One clear difference is the eloquence in which President Obama delivered his answer.
same sex marriage or opposite marriage clear difference! I fell off my chair when I heard that from laughing out loud.
People get stage fright, but as Miss USA your job is to look good and answer one ot two questions...if you don't do it well you don't win. She did not deliver er answer well, stumbled on her words and didn't win. period she messed up. (Not bc of WHAT her opinion was but bc of the words she chose..it made no sense!)

Had she said heterosexual marriage, she may have been perceived as more intelligent. What's an opposite marriage ? Divorce ?

This is all Im trying to say. Shes running around crying that her views caused her to lose but thats NOT the case for Gods sake. She blew it. Regardless if she said marriage should be between a man and a feline. I just cant give her the benefit of the doubt. Call me an a-hole.

Thats what I said! 'I would like an opposite marriage from my husband, we just dont get along anymore'
She obviouosly looks extremely nervous and stuttered but its part of the fricken competition to be well-spoken and educated. And she was not either!

I think she was nervous. And the words didn't come out the way she intended. They are entitled to their opinions. I think they are just making a big deal about her cus it is giving the media something to talk about and it was said on live tv while the marriage thing is a huge issue right now.

Okay this ALSO makes no sense:
I think it's great Americans are able to choose one or another,' she said. 'We live in a country where we can choose: same sex marriage or opposite marriage.'
WE DO NOT HAVE THIS CHOICE. The question was WHETHER she felt people should be given the choice!

i agree- I think/hope she lost because she messed up verbally, not cus of her views. Oh well! Who did win??? You don't hear anything about that person!

One way or the other she could have lost bc if her view was the other side people may have not liked either.
She could have said something like 'In America we have a wonderul Democratic system, and I feel that my personal belifs should be left out of this debate and feel states should decide for themselves'
That is more of a win win answer that all would like
