Obama's Letter to his Daughters

Long but beautiful and touching read.....

It's beautiful.....but.....

I must admit that I'm very sad he released it. I think it would be even more special if it was JUST for them.

My dad would write me letters, seal them and then have my mom mail them to me. Only my DH has read them and since he passed, they're even more special to me! Maybe that's my reasoning but either way, I wish they were kept out of the media spotlight....

Its funny you say that beause that was the only thing that had me . Publicizing it makes it more like a publicity stunt then the real reason he wrote it.

Exactly. I love Obama and I can't wait for him to become our President....but....this was a bit odd to me.

It would have been even more special if he wrote this JUST for them. Even if he mentioned it in an interview and simply alluded to the fact that he wrote his girls a special letter, that would have been fine and impressed me. Releasing it made me sad....it makes it a lot less special....

to me this letter sort of seemed like a publicity stunt. It was beautiful and I enjoyed reading it. BUT it honestly didn't seem as if it was geared towards his daughters. IDK

but I also think it would have been much more special if he did not release it.

Its a beautifully written letter and I think it will mean more to his kids in the future than now, I dont know that them being so young that they can understand what is in it.

I do appreciate the chance to read the letter though, as someone who did not vote for Obama- it gives me a little more insight into his character and hope for this country under his leadership.

i completely agree. i did not vote for Obama either. However, reading this letter definitely provided more insight into what he has in hopes for this country and what he wants to accomplish in office.
