Off Topic - Restaurant/Hall Referral

Hi, Ladies:

I don't know if y'all will remember me, as it has been quite some time since I've been on the boards, due to some personal problems, coupled with computer problems, etc. You name it - it probably happened. For that, I apologize!

I'm hoping you can still help me. I'm looking for a place to throw a 70th bday/40th anniversary party. Somewhere where we can have a renewal of vows, dancing (w/ DJ) and can accomodate about 75 people. If possible, I'd love to get something not too expensive, but with a nice view/grounds.

I hope all is well with you all and your DHs! I've really missed these boards!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I got married at the George Washington Manor, my room had a 75 person minimum and I thought the price was VERY reasonable, we were thrilled with the price, especially ona friday night in january! Check it out!!!

I love the GWM! My DH and I wanted to get married there originally, but they couldn't accommodate the 300+ guests we were having!

Anyway- the GWM is beautiful and I have to say that after my reception, my DH and I stayed at the Roslyn Clairmont Hotel right next door to the GWM and we were STARVING! The hotel resturant was closed and since it was a sun. night, everything in roslyn was closed too. They suggested we call up the GWM and see if they could make us something- they said sure, the kitchen is closed but to come by and they would see what they could do for us.

long story short, my DH did and they just told us to pick it up. When we got there, they saw that I was still in my gown and him in his tux and they asked us if we jsut got married. We told them the story how we looked at the GWM first and wanted it.... yada, yada, yads.

They came out with HUGE bags of food and told us that it was their wedding present- no charge!!!!

When we got back to our room, we found a bottle of champaigne, grilled shrimp, 2 pasta dishes, a steak and a huge salad complete with bread.

Isn't that nice??? I'd say they really know how to treat people!

That's awsome Lora!!

I went to a party at GWM and it was lovely, the food & service were great.

The Swan Club is not too far from there and can probably accomodate a party that size. Their grounds are beautiful
