Oh Boy !! Marriage liscense help!! Im a retard !!

Ok its been 9 mnths since I got married and I never changed my name I know really bad Im a procrastinator (sp?) anyway I do want to change my name but is it too late? do I have to get a new certificate? I dont know what to do Im such a spaz

When you filled out the paperwork, did you decide to keep your maiden name or did you decide that you'll change your name?

You are not, you've been BUSY!!!

You can definitely still change it, I believe. If I remember they were very specific on the form and said you can change it later, but if you opt to change to a married name on the license, you can't change it BACK to your maiden name unless you get married all over again!! So you're good.

It was actually really easy, I did the important stuff in a short trip to the DMV and the SS Office.

Some stuff you can do over the phone even.

The 60 day thing you were reading about was probably the amount of time you have from when you file for the marriage certificate before the wedding until the date of the wedding.

(you can't apply for the certificate before the 60 day mark)

no the 60 days is for the validity of your license....not your certificate

think you are ok with regards to the license and your certificate. but check your state regulations on name change time lines. While SSA gives you up to 2 years to do it, some states make you do it within a year (like here in VA). Past that time, you have to get a court order to change it.
