I'M SUCH AN AZZ!!!!!! okay a really REALLY brief backstory:
Jericho Terrace for a LONG time was my dream place to get married...of course we didn't think we'd be able to afford it, but in wedding planning we found out that my neighbor's(who i grew up with my entire life - like family!) nephew was actually the general manager!(talk about God answering my little prayer right? lol ) ANYWAYS, so he went ABOVE & BEYOND for our wedding...gave us an amazing price, threw in extras, treated us like a king & queen and met every need/request/etc...they were wonderful. Had it not been for him, we would've NEVER been able to have our wedding there, or have it be a special & unique as it was....
THE PROBLEM: so obviously i wrote a NOVEL of a thankyou card way back when.....it took up the entire front & back of the card thanking them for how wonderful they treated us, how much we appreciated it, etc... so yesterday i was digging through some wedding stuff looking for something for my friend who's currently planning, AND I FIND THE THANKYOU CARD. sealed, addressed & stamped of course, BUT I NEVER MAILED IT!!!!!! I remember waiting to mail it because i wanted to send it with a nice gift certificate to a restaurant or something, but it just must have gotten mixed up somehow in the shuffle of things!! so my question is, what would you do???!?!?! lol i feel absolutely AWEFUL. i don't want him to think that after everything he did for us that we just wiped our hand and walked away! plus i still see my neighbor all the time! SO...do i :
A) Go there in person with the card, and laugh about it a little?? do the 'OMG I can not BELIEVE i found this and that it was never mailed!! I AM SO SO SORRY!'
OR
B) mail it with a little note apologizing & explaining that i recently came across it...
OR
C) re-write it, go grab a gift certificate like i had originally wanted & just pretend to be a procrastinating bride saying that i'm just now mailing out my thankyou cards a year 1/2 later lol..
HELP!!!!!!

OYE thats a tough one..what about combining the two? Do you have another envelope that you could just stuff it in and rewrite and tell him how sorry you are and that you always emant to send it and you jst got sidetracked? I
I wouldnt use the procrastination route because that still seems like you didnt care about what he did for you. And handing him the giftcard seperately after the fact kinda seems like an after thought. But if you can geta way with pretending the GC was in there the whole time and then just be honest saying it got lost in the shuffle, that would be better I think. He can relate to that because we ALL forget stuff.

as long as i can find a place that doesn't put the date on the gift card i'm good! lol...i may just even skip it, because if he goes to the restaurant and says something like 'i just want to make sure it's not expired' and they reply 'oh it was just purchased last week' it'll make me look REALLY bad lol. he's a great guy with a really funny personality so i think i may just go there and make him laugh about it...
OYE

Hey, we're human---this stuff happens. I would bring it to the general manager in person and add the gift certificate as well.

How about a nice bottle of wine or two instead of the gift card ? That you could deliver in person with your explanation that the card got lost in the shuffle of settling in etc.

yea - but i feel like the wine looks like i'm intentionally trying to kiss his azz being that i screwed up lol...i dont want to seem desperate??? i dunno lol. BUT it does take away the chance of him finding out the purchase date on the gc...
...plus he's italian so wine would go over well

It's never too late to say thank you. Plus he's a man they don't over analyze these things like us.
I would buy a note card explain that you thought you sent the original (or blame it all on your dh) and that you just found the original thank you card and feel awful. Put the original thank you card still sealed into this new notecard and include the gift card. He won't care about the date on it you are sending him a gift. He shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Sometimes you just have to think with a man's mind and I think they were born without that part of their brain that makes them neurotic about things like this. A gift card a day after or a year after is always appreciated.

Good thing you went through your stuff! I think all the ideas you presented would work. Tell you the truth, I would not be surprised if someone from JT reads this post and meantions it to the individual you speak of. When we were planning we became close to 3 of the BM. On two occasions we were joking with all 3 and they meantioned LIW and some past posts. Good luck with whichever situation you choose .
