Ok, just scheduled my HSG xray & I'm really nervous!!

Hi, guys,

I just made the appt. for the xray I need to see if there are any blockages in my tubes, etc. I'm really scared; I don't do well with medical procedures, etc. They have to inject dye into my tubes and of course they're asking if I'm allergic and how am I supposed to know? I also have a mitral valve prolapse so I have to take antibiotics before anything like this so that always freaks me out. And to top it all off, they told me I have to do an enema that AM.

Sorry but I'm at work and just needed to talk to someone because my palms are getting sweaty and I feel like I can't breathe. I'm such a scaredy-cat.

Aw try not to get all tense about it Helen, it will be fine, remember 'knowlege is power!' They do these all the time and all of this is to make you healthier. Take a deep breathe and tell yourself, it's worth it. It's all for that budle of joy at the end of the tunnel! Of all the things you will go thru in order to be a good parent, this will be barely a bump in the road!

Don't worry too much about it...it'll all be okay! I've never had one, but I've performed the test on lots of ladies. Basically, the thing women say the most about it is they get severe cramping, like a period. That's pretty much the worst of it. As for the allergy to the dye...if you've ever had a Cat scan, it's the same dye. There are increased risks of allergy if you have shellfish allergies or other severe allergies. Most people have no problem with it, even if they do have shellfish allergies.

Hang in there! It'll all be worth it when you have a bouncing bundle of joy!
Good luck!

Thanks, Ryan!! I know I'm being silly and the test will be helpful but I'm so bad with stuff like this. I tend to imagine the worst that could happen in these kind of situations.

Oh chica, I feel so bad for you. Hope that's it's not going to be a scary experience. The enema is no big deal and the antibiotic is just a precaution
The dye will be painless, just a little needle prick - dont be scared. They always ask if you're allergic to dye b/c some other procedures out there require the same dye and some ppl have allergic reactions to it. If you do have an allergic reaction - it will manifest within minutes and they'll stop the procedure. But honestly, don't worry about it.

FM me if you have any questions. Can you get DH to come with you and hold your hand during the procedure?
