OK newlyweds who has had the inlaw visit yet

My in law's are coming to stay with us for a visit in the beginning of Sept. (They are actually coming up for their 50th anniversary!!!!!) So they want to see our house, since they haven't yet. I am nervous about it and excited at the same time.

Have any other Newlyweds had the In-law visit for the first time????

PS- Those of you who remember the history and the rain that she brings she is arriving 9/8 and leaving sometime around the 23rd so umbrellas and raincoats as needed!!

I don't think MIL WANTS to see us! She's still mad at us for moving out of NY!

Re: OK newlyweds who has had the inlaw visit yet

I love my MIL dearly, but she was here this weekend- she stayed ALL weeekend- I am glad she left yesterday, I feel your pain. We are redoing the house piece by piece- my parents have both passed so we are trying to clean out and redo at the same time. I get nervous when she comes over.

Re: OK newlyweds who has had the inlaw visit yet

Mine left yesterday! They came to visit for 10 days! They were very nice, we tried to showed them around as much as we could and I think they had fun. I mean, I loved them but they are thinking of moving too how awful! after thirty something years in NY?

Re: OK newlyweds who has had the inlaw visit yet

Mine was only supposed to be with us one night but that has turned into several because my hubby decided to take vacaction that week. The only two things I am not happy about is 1) my MIL usually brings rain where ever she is 2)when I come home from work, I am used to being alone (DH works nights) and I don't like talking to anyone but now I will have 2 guest to entertain. I don't fake happy well, tired shows through on me very obviously- Ah oh well

Oh and did I mention that the guest room is not done yet My father was supposed to do that. He said he would be here to spackle the room 9/9 but IL's are coming 9/10, so DH is attempting this himself.

Re: OK newlyweds who has had the inlaw visit yet

Mine are coming this weekend for their second visit since we moved in the house. Not looking forward to it at all. MIL and I tend to get on each other's nerves VERY quickly. No scheduled departure date yet. I'm estimating 2 weeks, DH says 1. We'll see.....

Re: OK newlyweds who has had the inlaw visit yet

Both sets of parents live one town over and have been over to help us paint, remove wallpaper, hang curtains as well a visit by both sets together for cake and coffee (my mom suggested that the first bit of entertaining we do should be small like coffee and cake rather than dinner, smart mom)

Re: OK newlyweds who has had the inlaw visit yet

I live in Chicago. We've had my husband's mother and stepfather visit (from a Thurs to a Sunday) and it was great!

We also had his father and brother come from a Thurs to a Monday.

We enjoyed having them and showing them around our city, but it was for a much shorter time period that your's are coming for! Good Luck!

Re: OK newlyweds who has had the inlaw visit yet

My father-in-law and his fiance are coming to stay for 4 months in the begining of November. That'll be around the time we move into our new home. I dislike him immensely and would rather stick a large pole between my cheeks than have him stay with me. But my hiusband loves his father.

Re: OK newlyweds who has had the inlaw visit yet

Jodi- she is starting to get under my skin. I love her dearly but she can go on and on and just talk and talk. HELP! Right now she is sleeping upstairs in my new living room- I am glad someone is enjoying it.Since we have most of it done there has not been 1 nite Alex and I have not been able to watch tv together alone. I have so much to fill you in on..... Alex is going to the Mets game with his friend tonite, and she and I are going to watch tv together.

OKAy she is now really getting under my skin...................... if I have to make one more pot of coffee, do everythng but turn it on, or watch on more thing on QVC, I am going to scream. When I went upstairs before she was sprawled out on my couch and on the phone with her best friend!!!!!!!!! And I had to walk her dog, do not get me wrong I love the dog, and I buy him cheese all the time from the deli, etc, and spoil him, becuase she wanted to just relax, I feel bad she is going thru a rough time right now, her 98 year old uncle is sick, but tomorrow cannot come soon enough! She will be back home in Brooklyn in less then 24 hours!!!
