Ok, newlyweds - would you be hurt by this?

Ok, newlyweds - would you be hurt by this?

I get up before DH in the morning. I feed & walk Casey, make the coffee, put my makeup on etc. He gets up after me and comes downstairs, has coffee then leaves. He has nothing to do in the morning but get up, dressed and out the door.

Well, this morning he comes down and says that he forgot his cell upstairs and could I go get it - I said no, I'm busy, the dog wouldnt come in from the yard, I had to run to catch my train (he drives to work and I commute to Manhattan). So he got mad at me and left without saying good bye . We ALWAYS say good bye and .

It just really hurt my feelings. He was so rude and disrespectful. All bc I wouldn't go upstairs to get his cell.

Yes, I definitely would have been hurt. MY DH did something similar yesterday, and I talked to him about it when he got home. I think it comes from taking us for granted. We spoil them, and then they expect us to do everything (which, in my situation, is my own fault.) When we say no, they don't know what to do, and immediately get angry.

I would talk to your DH and tell him how you feel. Good luck!

I agree with this...when they get what they want all the time and then hear a 'no' they get upset.

Yes, I would be hurt. Very hurt.

Maybe you can talk to him and ask him to get up a little earlier and help you with stuff, maybe take Casey out, or make breakfast or the coffee. Even maybe if you tell him ok you don't want him to get up early every day but maybe 2 or 3 days. I don't know - just a thought.

Sometimes they are worse than kids. It's hard to cut back on the TLC we are constantly giving them because they take it for granted. He should have been more observant of all the things you were busy with!

DH and I are currently at odds right now over similar things - Why am I always the one does the dishwasher or wiping down the bathroom or putting away the laundry. It's so frustrating, I hate to fight and nag but gimme a break -GRR, I'm so frustrated I can;t even speak about it any more.

Definately! I am sure he will realize he was wrong and apologize. I wouldn't call him until he does.

awww!!!

I am definitely the selfish morning person in my relationship.

I am so rushed and stressed in the morning that I sometimes forget that John is a human being with feelings...

Just talk to your DH and let him know how you try so hard to make things nice in the morning and that he really hurt your feelings!

I could have written that post. Yes, that would make me pretty upset.

yes, be upset, then let your DH know about it when he gets home tonight! Craig does stuff like this too - at first I used to get so upset about it bc I thought it was bc he didn't care - once I started letting him know how much it bothered me, he was just surprised and said he didn't even think about it, so now he is a little more considerate, but still lapses every now and then. My morning used to be exactly what you posted above with the dog until I just got so danm frazzled trying to walk the dog, feed him, and then get ready for work all while Craig was sleeping!! I told him about how I felt about it, and we agreed to change the morning routine where he now gets up 10 minutes after me and takes care of the dog so I can get ready. He doesn't need that much sleep!! We can't help but spoil the men we love so much, but they also get used to it, and I do agree that they're almost stunned when we (gasp!) can't accommodate them. Must be something wired into the male brain at birth... just let your DH know how you feel, and remind yourself he wasn't intentionally trying to hurt your feelings. sorry you had a crappy morning!!

So true. My MIL actually told me once she was sorry she never taught my DH how to do the laundry. Me, too! I think as long as you consistently let your DH know you are not the 'live-in help', and that you both have to pitch in, he'll get it eventually. I usually say something like, 'Oh, are the cleaning fairies coming today to pick up your socks?' He gets it.

I agree with the advice - sorry for your crappy morning!

He called me. It took a lot for me not to call him, but I did it lol.

He said 'I rushed out without taking my breakfast & lunch' - I said that's bc you rushed off in a huff!

He said I was being nasty and I said he was being an azzhole...and now we are even.

Ahhh the joys of marriage - compromise is everything We made up.

GOOD for you that he called first! Glad to hear everything is okay now!! Now you can remind him of how crappy your morning was when he gets home, and suggest he make up for it by taking you out to dinner (or getting takeout!)
