how do i start this annoying process of the name change and which places should i do first? anyone have a list of some sort? i am dreading this process..ugh

first thing i did was go to social security, then dmv. you need your marriage license for both

I did most of my credit cards.. which just involves calling and them sending you a new card.
I also did DMV , which you need marriage license for.
I have not yet gone to social security

So far I have done DMV, social security (you can download forms for both on the internet), credit cards, and bank account. I still have to do my professional license and I think I'm done.

I started with Social Security because your SS# is attached to almost everything. That allowed me change my name with everything at work (health insurance, life insurance, pension etc.). Then I did DMV.
I have not done my credit cards or my passport yet. I may wait until my current passport expires.

I did my DMV first when it first opened - changed my car title too!
Then, since SS opens 30 min after the DMV, I drove down there and waited 45 min for a 5 min mtg.
Forms for both DMV and SS are avail. online.
Once my SS card came in the mail - I've started my process to get my healthcare coverage changed at the office.
Still have to do my Credit Cards and Passport.

I did SS first, then DMV to change my license and title as well. SS helps you change many things, including work!!!!
If you want to change your passport, do it quickly if you just got it for your honeymoon!!!! You can change your name for free within 1 year of the first isuance!!!!

I did SS, DMV (for license, title, and registration), and then the banks and one credit card so far. Next I have to change everything at both jobs and union/benefit stuff

Do you need to notify SS? I am going to the DMV this weekend, then want to change my passport. Does SS need to be notified before I can change my passport?
