I am starting the writing process for the Thank yous. I actually have the envelopes and the cards, just waiting the pictures.

My question is, for the monetary gifts we received, do I mention the amount?

I hear that. whats wrong with PEOPLE! Like the family who's son got married last year at the same place and gave us 50.00. Or my DH friend from work who asked if he could bring a date then showed up with out the date and gave us our 30.00 scale.

And say we really did need another George Foreman, though the 2 larger ones on our registry were already purchased, but now when we have a little one we can all line up in a row, all three of us, grilling on our own George Foremans...

When a friend of mine got married about 7 years ago someone put a $5 bill in the card...then actually had the nerve to sign the card with a question mark!!!!

Well, we are still waiting on a gift from a friend of DH's mother, who came with her boyfriend and said, 'Oh, I didn't bring anything because I didn't know what to get you.' Luckily DH's mother said, 'Cash would be best!' Still no card or cash from her...

LOL on the stories! I had a couple who said after the wedding to us, they didn't have my gift yet but they will buy it and send it to us soon. Duh didn't they have a few months to do that?

Another thing, we had a friend who had the nerve to come to the wedding with no gift or card. He finally gave a check to us after my DH told him off. It will probably bounce!

Here's one --

How do I thank my best friend from elementary school who came to my wedding with her husband and gave us a check for $50 and a disgusting ugly and gaudy white lace photo album with a big padded heart on the front. I'd like to point out that I was her maid of honor 6 years ago and went overboard on everything for her from shower to bachelorette and gifts!

Husband and I have an outdoor firepit and it has been all I can do to hold myself back from throwing the damn photo album in the fire!

NO, I would never mention the amount - I would just say thank your for your generous gift, or something around those lines......
