Re: OMG

rumor has it they always stay at a westin... i love the westin because the beds are amazing.... it was a lucky guess. it would've been a win/win situation anyway because the hotel was fantastic. Got a great last minute deal on hotels.com.

Re: OMG

DH had never been to Philly and july 4th was my only 3 day weekend for a while (I can't take off in July - bossman is out for 3 weeks), so we decided to go. While researching things to do, I realized that our visit was the Mets series. I went on Philly's Craigslist and bought tickets off a season ticket holder that was away for the weekend.... we were 8th row, right behind the mets dugout.

DH went with my dad and brothers. They said it was GREAT and that the Phillies fans around them kept getting tossed. They said they were crazy and so fun!

we had no trouble at all - in fact, everyone was really nice. just get field seats - upper deck may be a different story!

the field seats were only $44. that park is cheaper than shea.

WOW Nicole- what an awesome trip!! The best part IMHO? The beds at the Westin! Seriously, those ARE heavenly!!

Looove Citizens Bank Park- DH and I went a couple summers ago....saw the Phils play the Brewers. It's kinda nice to see a game that you don't have anything invested in.

I did win a Cooperstown Edition Steve Carlton jersey however! Dh took that from me quickly- the Phillies are his fave NL team. They handed out packs of baseball cards and mine had the winning card in it.

Me in my winning Jersey in front of the Steve Carlton statue.

DH is going to CBP this Saturday while I'm at Bon Jovi. I asked him to come back with a Phanatic for me. LOVE that guy. Can't believe we never got a pic with him when we were there.

oh come on Caroline...you know you wanna

teehee you are FUNNY! DH was a meanie- he wanted to wear that jersey to work the day after the big...sorry this is a painful reminder- choke at the end of 2007 for your Mets. Luckily it was still at my mom's so he never got to be so cruel towards his coworkers.

It's interesting- I don't really have any ill-will towards Mets fans. DH has more animosity towards them than Red Sox fans. He just gets tired of the Mets fans at the gym and at work mouthing off to him.

i think i told you this story before... but incase i didn't..

i was at the LAST home game vs the marlins last summer... i noticed the crowd was getting rowdy i a 'wave' type fashion, but really slowly,

until i realized it was 4 philly fans wearing philly hats and METS jerseys that said 07 and 'choke' where the name should be... they were holding a mr met doll in a noose.

it was BRILLIANT... i loved them for their HUMONGO b@lls...

they were right... we choke.. we choked hard...

We were originally staying at the Courtyard Marriott but when DH found out that they were staying @ the Westin...he conveniently changed our reservation. (We waited outside as well)

We met most of the players too...Aaron Heilman was such a sweetheart! Pedro signed a lot of autographs and so did Beltran. Sanchez and Feliciano were such diiicks Who else did you meet??

eta: you're right--the manager of the hotel was such a nice guy!! did you drive to the game or take the subway?

oooh that is good! Sometimes I think fans really try to outdo each other with their wittiness....it's a contest over who is more creative. Certainly makes things interesting!

I hate when I actually enjoy what Red Sox fans say/do! Like the group of people wearing blondie girl masks when ARod came up to bat last summer.

I can't say much about the Mets choke...because hell, our choke in 2004 was deplorable...

Nicole, you are SO LUCKY to meet those guys! I think if I met a Yankee I'd

oooh, i meant the mets manager - manuel! Now we thought Sanchez was nice! He was staying on our floor, we were in the elevator with him a couple times.

We had fun!

oh and we took the subway there, but it was sketchy. we were the ONLY ONES down the tunnel for about 10 minutes, then all of a sudden we were surrounded by 'gentlemen' with exposed guns in their waistbands. We took a cab back to the hotel.

oh man the first time DH & I stayed together in Philly I made us use the SEPTA...DH was NOT happy after that experience and said he'd never do it again. I'm sure it's much like NYC subways where there are subway lines/stations you don't go near. I don't remember being too freaked...it just wasn't an easy ride for us with connections and whatnot.

yeah that mustache thing is outta control! My favorite mustache related thing is when they have this thing between innings on the big screen- they show you a baby picture and you have to guess which Yankee it is. They showed Giambi- we got it right away - same dimpled smile. When they revealed it was Giambi, they put a mustache on the baby pic! They often put mustaches on his pic on the big screen when he's announced.

When Giambi's desperate for a hit, he also wears a gold thong. In his mind, if you have that thing riding up your butt, you can't think of anything BUT the thong so you're bound to get a hit!

I was tempted - after all of this mustache wearing by the fans- that if Giambi gets in a hopeless slump again I'd wear a gold thong outside of my clothes. Maybe start a new trend!

thats awesome that you met Jerry Manuel--we never saw him. we saw sanchez in the lobby and he blew us off. we took the subway as well--at first when we got there it was dead...then a million mets fans started showing up which made us feel a lot better. what did u think when they delayed the game for rain and it was barely raining?!?!
