I am working for a new person now, and he is a higher up at the company. People keep calling and their names sound like Hugadithyuja philabuthgyahe. And I just dont know how to prnounce them, spell them, or understand them and I need to get that stuff right. So stressful!!! Why cant people just have simple names??????

ask them to spell their name's out for you. I tend to request it and write the message's down and give it to my boss. Don't worry about asking them to repeat their names. I am sure you boss will understand if you don't pronounce their names correctly. Maybe you should write the name down and hand it over to him at the same time.

sometimes I ask them to spell it, but we really are not supposed to. Its very corporate and they could be someone 'very important.'

I rather have them spell it than give it to my boss and have him try to figure out the persons name...lol
It's annoying...I hate all these calls!!!!!

I totatlly hear you! First because my English is not so great and second working at an Immigration Law firm with clients from all over the world...specially the Philippino's name....it takes me 10 minutes to get it right
