this mortgage process has completely stumped us with yet another money detail that no one told us about-- we got our mortgage committment letter along with a trillion other papers that we have to sign and have to mail them yet another check for 2K--ok it is better than the 27K last time--but how come no one feels the need to tell us these things---and I think the fact that we just bought 5K worth of furniture(which doesnt buy too much ) is making this 2K worse

What's the 2K for? Just make sure you check everything out that you are not getting charged fees you didn't know about. I work for a firm that purchases mortgages and we are very aware nowadays of 'predatory' lending where people are charged xtra fees for things they didn't know about. It's probably all up front, but just make sure you read all your documentation and know what you are paying for. Good Luck! I know it is a very stressful thing to go through!!

Thanks Lee--in that same packet we got our good faith estimate with our trillion fees that we might have to pay-- i called the lawyer and they say it is okay because it is refunded at the closing--which just means we can apply it to the total closing cost-- the bad thing is if we never close on any house we lose the money--but i dont want to think about that!!
