Only 3 months to return presents to Fortunoff??

OK, I know I'm a bonehead - I should be on top of these registry deadlines...

I was married almost 6 months ago and at the time did a quick check of my china to make sure it wasn't broken. Everything was OK.

Now that I'm looking more carefully, I have found 3 pieces with imperfections on them and called Fortunoff to find out what I can do about it.

The saleslady said they only accept returns/exchanges for 90 days after the wedding date. She said I can try and speak to a manager and they MIGHT help. I am going there next weekend!!

Did anyone experience this already?

I'm posting this just to give you ladies who registered with Fortunoff a 'heads up.' Now I have to go check through my crystal.

Re: Only 3 months to return presents to Fortunoff??

Definitely go there and talk to a manager. DH and I went almost 7 months after our wedding to return stuff and they said no at first but then they did. But they only took back stuff that they still had. If something was discontinued we were stuck with it. Check online to see if your china is still available, if it is, go there and they should exchange it!! Good Luck!! They definitely do stink over there.

Re: Only 3 months to return presents to Fortunoff??

I used to say, 'I JUST received this gift.'

They'd look it up, huff a little because it was 'bought so long ago', but I would insist that I just received it.

Although, it was all still current merchandise

Re: Only 3 months to return presents to Fortunoff??

Definitely speak to management and if that doesn't work speak to someone at the corporate offices. I had MANY MANY problems with Fortunoffs between rude salespeople, items being discontinued and not being told, etc. We finally had enough and called the corporate office to lodge a complaint. She sent us 2 free place settings of our china and e-mailed weekly to see how I was doing with the registry leading up to the wedding.

Re: Only 3 months to return presents to Fortunoff??

I had a problem with returning merchandise to Fortunoff after my engagement party. I changed my china pattern, and then decided to nix it altogether from my registry, but a guest bought us a place setting before we changed it. Needless to say, we went to return it...the sales associate was very rude, saying that I only had 30 days to return it FROM WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED (and according to her computer, that was up even before I received the gift). I got a manager, who after a being upset, and threatening to change my entire registry to another store, 'did me a favor' and let me return it for a MERCHANDISE CREDIT only. All I can say is, good luck...and if I get anything I don't want for my wedding, I'm sending my mom to return it while I'm on my honeymoon!

Re: Only 3 months to return presents to Fortunoff??

I just brought stuff back a few weeks ago and I was married in May.

They told me the policy and I said ok, but I want credit for this and they gave it me...no problems!
